On October 7, Marvel is getting ready to launch a brand new line that is/isn’t a reboot the All-New, All-Different Point One #1. The new comic book is set to give readers a preview of the Universe starring clips of highly anticipated books like Charles Soule’s mysterious new take on Daredevil. The new book features glimpses of […]

Marvel have announced that they’ll be publishing two new titles soon, both tying-in to their Superior Spider-Man series, and both of them focusing on villains. Which means the Spider-Man franchise at Marvel will now be made up of six titles, all of which feature a villain-of-sorts in the main role. We have Scarlet Spider and Venom currently on the go, and now July will see The Superior Foes of Spider-Man and Superior Carnage both released into the world (presumably picked up by a cup/coaster combination, and subsequently thrown out a window).
The creative teams are pretty good! The Superior-Spider Foes will focus on the five-strong member of the current Sinister Six, who are made up of Speed Demon, Shocker, Beetle, Overdrive and Boomerang. This is being billed as an ongoing series, and will be written by Nick Spencer, drawn by Steve Lieber. Boomerang appears to be the central character here, although I’m not sure what the ongoing premise of the book will be. It seems like it’ll be a look at life as a for-hire supervillain, and all that entails. Double-crosses, failed heists, an inevitable upcoming appearance from Spider-Man…
Superior Carnage follows the previous two successful Carnage miniseries Marvel have put out recently. Zeb Wells won’t be writing this one, but another member of his writing room at Robot Chicken will be - Kevin Shinick. And whilst Clayton Crain will only be on covers this time round, that does make space for Steven Segovia to come in as artist for the five-issue mini. The mini will focus on another attempt to take over and control the ‘Carnage’ symbiote, but this time it’ll be a villain trying to cause trouble, in the form of The Wizard.
Both books are out in July.

It’s not over quite yet! Even while Torsten attempts to shoo the remaining sheep out of Stately Beat Manor’s library and Todd tries to piece together one of Heidi’s vases, SDCC 2012 still has a few small bits and pieces left for us all. Marvel’s Spider-Man panel have been announcing a few changes in the company’s third-biggest franchise (assuming that X-Men are first, Avengers are second, and Doop fourth) today, including the cover for this year’s issue #700, and details on the ‘Minimum Carnage’ crossover story.
Yes, Minimum Carnage, following the previous two Zeb Wells-helmed stories featuring the red-fury symbiote villain. Starting with ‘Minimum Carnage Alpha’ and, absolutely, concluding with the Steve-predicted ‘Minimum Carnage Omega’, the series is this time a crossover story. Chris Yost’s Scarlet Spider and Cullen Bunn’s Venom are the two books involved, as the pair of antiheroes team up (after probably fighting each other a bit, as per tradition) to try and stop Cletus Kassady from, y’know, doing a load of murders. Lan Medina will draw the opening issue, before Khoi Pham tackles the Scarlet Spider side of the story and Declan Shalvey draws Venom.
Avenging Spider-Man #13 will be by Kevin Shinick and Aaron Kuder, and features Hypno Hustler and Deadpool. This may well be part of a tie-in to the weird web series Marvel announced earlier in the con, called ‘All-Winners Squad’. This series – live action – features Squirrel Girl, The Unicorn, Hypno Hustler and Doop as they… do something… and Morgan Spurlock is involved. It’s bizarre, nobody quite knows what’s going on. You can read a little bit about it on CBR, who seem equally confused about what Marvel are trying. OR! The issue is unconnected to the webseries entirely, and I just wasted ten seconds of your time.
Issue 700 of Amazing Spider-Man will look like this:
In other news, Punisher: War Zone was revealed to be a five-issue miniseries which wraps up Greg Rucka and Marco Checchetto’s current run with the character. To confirm: Punisher is cancelled in September, with this miniseries starting in October.
In it, the Avengers finally decide that it’s time to do something about the ol’ mass murdering vigilante, and things get messy

By ‘lurking’ Steve Morris
Seeing as they were nice enough to cite their source, I’ll say Newsarama were the scoopers on this. Diamond’s order form for October (yes, nowadays we actually go onto diamond order forms in order to find HOT GOSS) reveal six new Marvel titles will be released, each one more mysterious than the last.
But only because I’ve rearranged the order to make it that way.
Mystery Book 1! A-Babies Vs X-Babies #1
Presumably based on the Skottie Young variant cover for AvX #1, this is a one-shot book. It’s likely Young will be, at the very least, writing the title. Will baby Hepzibah appear? With baby Corsair and his baby Space Moustache.
Mystery Book 2! Ultimate Comics Iron Man #1 (of 4).
A new miniseries for the slightly more drunk version of Iron Man.
Mystery Book 3! Marvel Now Point One #1
Almost certainly something to do with Marcus Johnson/Nick Fury Beta, based on the teaser Marvel released earlier this week.
Mystery Book 4! Minimum Carnage Alpha #1
A one-shot setting up the new Minimum Carnage series, which it appears Scarlet Spider and Venom will tie-into. It’s likely that Zeb Wells will be writing this, and even more likely that the crossover storyline will end with an issue called Minimum Carnage Omega
Mystery Book 5! AvX Consequences #1 (of 5)
As there are five Wednesdays in October, there will be five issues of this ‘Requiem’ style series for AvX. Will Cyclops be dead? Will Captain America get socked in the jaw? Will someone sit moodily by their best friend’s dead body? Will Spider-Man wear black AGAIN?
Mystery Book 6! A Plus X #1
Erm. Something to do with a baby? Who knows. A + X = AX, so maybe it’s about a character who owns an axe.
I don’t get it.
‘The lack of diversity on these titles is dismaying as well ‘
wtf, diversity in what way? They’re all superhero books ? well it’s the Marvel universe! lack of new characters? Hardly surprising with writers/artists wanting to keep copyright(naturally).
It can’t be gender/racial/sexual orientation with so many old characters being replaced eg. Wolverine, ant-man, thor, captain america, ghost rider, nova, starlord, hulk and so many others i forget.
Maybe it’s the tone/art direction but with so many other publishers offering variety why do we need me-too books from Marvel, let them concentrate on what they’re good at.
“The lack of diversity on these titles” has nothing to do with superheroes to me. In this day and age, I’m pretty amazed that when I look at the list of artists and writers on just this one book (11 total plus 3 cover artists) — they’re all male and primarily white.
