Television execs seems to be stuck in a neverending nostalgia loop. In just the past week, reboots or spinoffs have been announced for "The Lion King," "The Magic School Bus," "The Powerpuff Girls"...and now, "Danger Mouse." The iconic U.K. cartoon series, which was produced by British studio Cosgrove Hall from 1981 to 1992, is returning to the small screen next year with 52 eleven-minute episodes.

OK, when I say 'we', my role was, in truth, fairly minimal. What I really mean is, the wonderful Happy Films team that put together the CITV show Bookaboo won - and well done to them! My small claim to a tiny part of their fame, is that Class Two at the Zoo featured as one of the 13 episodes.
Bookaboo's victory as BEST CHILDREN’S PROGRAMME came at last week's Broadcast Awards. We were in prestigious company, pitted against emmy award-winning drama, Dustbin Baby, Scorpion Island, Horrible Histories and more. The win was a unanimous decision by the judges, who added that the show was “warm, and totally original” and "as appealing to the adult audience as it was to the children’s”.
Bookaboo also won the pre-school BAFTA award at the end of last year, proving that our friend the rock-drumming, book-loving puppy truly does appeal to children of all ages.
If you still haven't caught the show, do watch out for the repeats: the stories are all read by your favourite celebs, and they do a great job!

But guess what? He had a different cold altogether. Instead of me infecting him, he gave his to me, so I'm ill all over again!! This time I've got the whole thing: sore throat, sneezing all over the computer monitor (too graphic?).
The votes for the Red House Awards are all in now, so somebody somewhere knows whether we won (exciting, but sort of strange). They keep it a closely guarded secret though, until the big ceremony next month, when they do the old envelope opening trick...
I'm so upset - I have an important wedding abroad, so won't be able to attend. Peter will be there to cry on my behalf though, should we get lucky.
The drawing at the top is from An ABC of Nursery Rhymes by the way: Ring-a-Ring-a-Roses of course. It also seemed a fortuitous answer to this week's Illustration Friday: which happens to be Contagious.
Congratulations on your little part, but it's a part no less :)
Well done Lynne! I can see now why they appeal to adults as well as children, your illustrations are fantastic :)
Thanks Guys!
