1. Boulet and Carol Tyler win 2016 Cartoonist Studio Prizes

Oh but look! Slate’s Cartoonist Studio Prize 2016 winners for 2016 have just been announced and they are Boulet and Carol Tyler. Tyler won for Soldier’s Heart: The Campaign to Understand My WWII Veteran Father, which I was just lauding, a collection of her three volume memoir about her father, WWII vet Chuck Tyler, whose […]

Well, this crowdfunder hardly needs my help as its already at more than $100K and it made it’s $30,000 goal in an hour or so, but danm Augie and the Green Knight: A Children’s Adventure Book looks pretty. A new comic by French cartoonist Boulet is always worth noting, and this one about the horror of buying new clothes is no exception, from the dread of buying underwear from snotty sales girls to the doomed perfection of new shows.

4. Adhouse to publish Boulet’s The Darkness

You may not know the name Boulet, but this French artist is one of the most prolific and talented cartoonists working. Maybe you will recall his disgustingly accomplished 24-hour comic from last year, The Darkness. Or his blog, which includes English versions of his comics. That first link is getting a printed version in the US, courtesy of AdHouseIt's due in April to tie in with Boulet's 2013 US tour, and will be printed in a limited quantity. Hopefully this is only the first US edition of Boulet's work to see print. Here's a wee preview:

5. The Seven Deadly Sins In Animated GIF Form

French comic artist Boulet (aka Gilles Roussel) animated the seven deadly sins as GIFs. It’s hard to pick, but greed was my favorite in the bunch. Boulet’s Tumblr is also worth a visit.

Greed

This way for more sinful animation.

Wrath

Pride

Lust

Sloth

Gluttony

Envy
