You are viewing the most recent posts tagged with the words: Bloggiesta in the JacketFlap blog reader. What is a tag? Think of a tag as a keyword or category label. Tags can both help you find posts on JacketFlap.com as well as provide an easy way for you to "remember" and classify posts for later recall. Try adding a tag yourself by clicking "Add a tag" below a post's header. Scroll down through the list of Recent Posts in the left column and click on a post title that sounds interesting. You can view all posts from a specific blog by clicking the Blog name in the right column, or you can click a 'More Posts from this Blog' link in any individual post.
I'm a little late with my
Bloggiesta wrap-up, partly because I lost a whole day on Sunday. I went to the theater to see On The Town. This is an old musical comedy about three sailors with a 24 hour leave in New York City. It was fun, the dancing was wonderful as was the singing, and I loved the sets:
Of course, now I am going to have to watch the 1949 movie version of On The Town with Frank Sinatra and Gene Kelly.
I did spend a lot of time yesterday finishing up the
Bloggiesta tasks and challenges I set for myself.
1- I did backup this blog and my other blog,
Randomly Reading. I'm always afraid I'm going to do something and lose both blogs, so I like to have up-to-date backups and I've been neglecting that lately.
2- My pages are all up-to-date now, but I am thinking about adding an author index.
3- I made a new banner for my Randomly Reading twitter page (
@randomlyreading) using
PicMonkey, but I don't think I like it, so for now, I'll keep the one I have.
4- I still need to work on the blog folders on my hard drive. I have one for each blog, and though it sounds like I'm organized, they are still a mess with lots of photos, ideas and stuff. I have a gazillion comic strips that need to be ordered. I am a minimalist in my real time life, but something close to a hoarder in my virtual life (easy enough to understand, I have 128 GB available, not to mention 1 TB on my backup drive. If I have that much space in real time, I would be my own small country).
5- I spent time learning how to make an inforgraphic, thanks to Valeria at
A Touch of Book Madness and using
Piktochart. Good to know for future use.
6- I checked the loading time of my blog using
Pingdom Tools (thank you again, Joy at
Joy's Book Blog, for sharing this tool). This blog was faster than 64% of blogs tested and there is an analysis for making your blog load faster, but I will have to spend some time with that to figure it all out.
I feel pretty good about getting all this done. Now, back to reading….
I haven't done a #
Bloggiesta in a while and there are some things on this blog that could use some tuning-up and straightening up, and in the spirit of Spring Cleaning (because spring is only 61 days away as of today!) And, while I may be a little late to the sign-up Linky, it isn't too late to participate.
Here is what I plan on doing:
1- Backup blogs, this one and Randomly Reading
2- Update all my Pages
3- Make new banners for Twitter
4- Clean up labels (again)
5- Organize my blog folders on my hard drive where I keep ideas, information, photos, etc for future use.
5- Learn how to make an infographic with Valeria at
A Touch of Book Madness, which is something I've been meaning to do.
6- Joy at
Joy's Book Blog has a really good idea on her #Bloggiesta To-Do List to check the loading time of her blog using
Pingdom Tools recommended by
The Redhead Riter. Thank you, Joy, for that great idea and the links.
This is a busy reading time of the year for me, so I thought I would keep things manageable.
Here goes...
Well,
Bloggiesta 2013 is over. I hope everyone had a great weekend and accomplished all their goals. I accomplished almost all of mind, but the weekend was cut short by a Sunday afternoon at the theater and then dinner. But I am at the finish line so let's see what's what.
This is my original list and my finished tasks are crossed off.
1- Write reviews for the books I have already read and the pile is getting higher.
I did all but one review.
2- Back up my blog.
Now I need to remember to back up both my blogs more frequently.
I did lots of work on this blog - made drop down menus for labels and blog archive, created an archives page, and changed the whole look because the background I was using wouldn't always let me respond to comments, among other things.
4- Participate in the following challenges:
Organizing Reviews hosted by Lauren at Lose Time Reading using Excel, something I need a lot. I don't have Excel, so I am going to try to do it on Google Docs.
I did manage to make this work in Google Docs, so I was very pleased. I even used a color coding system the way Lauren shows on here mini-challenge.
I didn't get far enough with this to say I completed it, so it is still a work in progress.
Google Reader Replacement Options hosted by Jenn from The Picky Girl. I have already tried Bloglovin', Feedly and The Old Reader, but still haven't made up my mind about which I like best.
For the moment, I am sticking with Bloglovin' Feedly was OK, but there were almost 38,000 subscriptions ahead of me and after a few hours, very few of those were done. There was also a note saying that in the future there would be a charge. The Old Reader was also OK, but in the end I preferred Bloglovin'
Thank you again to all the hosts of the mini-challenges and especially to Suey from

Yes, it is that time of the year! A time when you can take a weekend and work on your blog. This year
Bloggiesta is once again being hosted by Suey from
It's All About Books and Danielle from
There's A Book Here is a great big Muchas Gracias to both of you for organizing and hosting this year's Bloggiesta.
Bloggiesta runs from Friday, March 22 to Sunday, March 24th so break out the chips and salsa and get yourself up to the Starting Line:
I have been waiting for Bloggiesta to do some work on The Children's War, so here is my To-Do List:
1- Write reviews for the books I have already read and the pile is getting higher.
2- Back up my blog.
4- Participate in the following challenges:
Organizing Reviews hosted by Lauren at Lose Time Reading using Excel, something I need a lot. I don't have Excel, so I am going to try to do it on Google Docs.
Google Reader Replacement Options hosted by Jenn from The Picky Girl. I have already tried Bloglovin', Feedly and The Old Reader, but still haven't made up my mind about which I like best.
Happy Bloggiesta and see you Sunday!
So, I knew I wasn't going to get everything done because my list was insane. I did a lot of work and while I didn't get done what I thought I'd get done, I did get a LOT done!
1. Review books. I have 57 books to review. I'll be happy if I get 10 done. I reviewed 7. I got a few comments on the size of my backlog. That's one of the reasons why I love Bloggiesta-- even though 57 is a lot of books, the size of my backlog is smaller every Bloggiesta!
2. Deal with my Google Reader. This mainly means geting caught up on blog posts. I have over 6191 unread blogposts (OMG I KNOW.) So, I will read as many as possible, but the hard part will be heavy use of the "mark as read" button. I also want to clean out my stars. Most are books that I want to read, so I want to write at least 5 "reviews that made me want to read the book" posts. Others are videos I wanted to watch or things I wanted to pin when I was reading my reader when I couldn't watch videos or pin things. I read over 1700 posts and deleted a bunch of others. I also deleted several feeds-- some are blogs I don't really like, some that are defunct, and several that I for some reason have multiple feeds for. I cleaned out a TON of stars--over 80. Of course, I ended up just transferring most to Evernote or Pocket thanks to some super-helpful mini-challenges. I didn't write any of the "reviews that made me want to read the book though.
3. Change domain hosts. YES! I have two blogs and this took longer and was much more complicated than I thought it would be, BUT it's all done and I didn't have a lot of the negative "side effects" that a lot of people have and my blogs were only offline for about half a day.
4. Work on upcoming secret blog project-- buy domain name, work on layout, pick at least 20 themes, sketch out at least 10 blog posts. YES YES YES. I didn't think I'd get much done on this, but I bought the domain name (when I was transferring the others) and set up the basic design and about pages. I'm not sure how many themes I picked, but way more than 20. I didn't sketch out 10 blog posts, but I did preliminary notes for more than 10.
5. Clean off the bedroom bookshelf-- specifically, the library books cubby (I have too many checked out, I'll never read them all) and to-review cubby (Review and move!) and the ARC cubby (which ones am I actually going to get to?) Nope
6. Tag old posts. (Um, this probably isn't going to happen, but it's something I want to do, so let's put it on the list, ok? )Nope
7. Try again to make a video or two for Library Noise. Nope
8. Write new storytime intro posts and update the existing ones on Library Noise. Nope
9. Write that post I gotta write. Nope
10. SLJ round up. Nope
11. Do that review app. Nope

Obviously, not all of that's going to happen, but that's the list of stuff I *want* to do, so let's see how much we can get done, ok?

Bloggiesta starts tomorrow. This wonderful blogging event is happening at a perfect time for me; I am prepping the blog for my upcoming vacation to OKC, and Bloggiesta gives me a great excuse to stay home and do nothing but blog! Perfect!! Here’s my list of activities I plan to tackle:
Clean up sidebar
Catch up on interview posts
Send out questions for planned interview posts
Get current on reviews (I have 4 to write)
Schedule posts for October and have everything ready to go for when I’m on vacation
Prep some of the giveaways I am planning (I love to recycle books this way!)
Organize TBR mountain before it falls on me and kills me (this is on my list every time!)
Plan my reading list for October
Squeeze in a few volumes of manga (I haven’t been reading enough of these)
Research Feedburner conversion. I don’t like the email subscription aspects of Feedcat
Work out an exercise schedule (because a healthy blogger is a happy blogger! Yes, that was also on the last list, and since I finally have my asthma under control, I need to get back on some kind of exercise routine )
Participate in some of the mini-challenges (this is a great way to learn some new blogging tips and tricks)
Are you participating in Bloggiesta? What are your goals for the weekend?
So Bloggiesta 2012 ended yesterday and when I go over my list of goals to see how I have done - well, not too bad, I think.
1- I made a favicon, and it show up once and disappeared again and who knows if it will ever show up again.
2- I did fix my grab button, which had one line of HTML too many.
3- I revisited my About My Blog page and did some work on that, but not my About Me information.
4- Cleaned up Google Reader, but did nothing with my RSS feed.
6- I really cleaned up my labels, thanks to the mini challenge hosted by Candace at BethFishReads
7- Thanks for the mini-challenge hosted by The Bluestocking Society, I did create a rating system, using the Kilroy was here picture instead of stars, which seemed appropriate given my blog’s focus. But I am still waffling about using it. Using a five-Kilroy scale, this is how a three star rating might appear: Maybe stars would be better.
8- Charlotte at
Charlotte’s Library hosted a mini-challenge to create some pages, which I did, but I am still working on them.
And yes, I did make new friends and kept the old.
And again, thank you Suey at It’s All About Books and Danielle at
There’s A Book for hosting this event and keep an eye out for the next installment of
Bloggiesta on September 28, 29 and 30.
4 Comments on Bloggiesta Wrap Up - A Day Late and A Dollar Short, last added: 4/2/2012
I had an ambitious set of goals. How'd I do?
First, let's talk about all the things I did that weren't on the list.
Read 2.5 books.
Folded 25 origami cranes.
Had lunch with a friend.
Got my hair cut.
Went to a birthday happy hour that turned into a girls night.
Got a mani/pedi.
Worked a full day.
Plus, there is food in my belly, my house is still standing, and my baby is still alive.
So, even without Bloggiesta, I got a lot done!
But, how'd I do on Bloggiesta? Not too bad.
Here were my goals:
Review books. I have 61 unreviewed books. I'll be happy if I review at least 10.
I reviewed 8. Close to my realistic happy goal.
Preschedule Reviews. I'd like to preschedule all of April. I'll be happy if I get next week and the week after done.
I got this week and next week kinda done! My Poetry Friday and Nonfiction Monday posts need to have the hosts filled in before they can actually post. Also, April 13's isn't scheduled yet because I want to review a verse novel that I'm not done reading yet. BUT! I have a few other posts scheduled beyond then, so yay!
Deal with my Google Reader. This involves cleaning out starred posts and reading all my unread posts. Currently, I have 2581 unread posts. I'll be super happy if I just get this under 1000, but I'll settle for reading 1000.
I read 1005, marked a few hundred more as read, and it's now down to 1690. Progress and baby steps. I didn't get finished cleaning out my stars, but I did clean out a lot of them. (Most of my starred posts are just things I want to follow up, but it's been awhile since I've gone through and done the following-up.)
Do some work on my programming blog, Library Noise. I need to write up an introduction to Toddler Storytime, come up with a post template, change some stuff on the intro to Baby Storytime, record and post a video or two, and make a rhyme page.
DONE! Ok, not the videos and rhyme page, but the rhyme page was going to be links to the videos showing me doing all my action rhymes. I didn't make any videos, but I TRIED TO. My camera was being glitchy so the audio track was a few seconds behind. But the rest got done!
I've changed my review policy on Nonfiction, but only in my head and actions. I need to get it in writing and let y'all know what's going on and why.
DONE
Change my domain registration. GoDaddy's ads are effective in that I use them because I remember they exist, but they also skeeve me out, so I would like to not use them anymore.
This is the only thing I didn't make any progress on. Hopefully this week. It's not a major deal and won't take a lot of time, it just needs to get done.
Clean up my sidebar.
DONE
All in all, not too shabby. I still have a lot of reviews to write and posts to read, but I made some progress this weekend, so I'm happy! Plus, I have really pretty toenails.
Links to Amazon are an affiliate link. You can help support Biblio File by purchasing any item (not just the one linked to!) through these links. Read my full disclosure statement.

I didn’t make much headway on my Bloggiesta tasks. Why? Because I started reading Storybound by Marissa Burt and couldn’t put it down. So, while I still have a large to-do list, at least I was able to enjoy a wonderful MG fantasy novel. I’ll take that any day of the week!
Create a Facebook page – This is still at the top of my list!
Continue to figure out how to best use Pinterest
Clean up sidebar
Catch up on interview posts (I have about 7 in various stages) – I posted 5
Get current on reviews (I have 3 to write) - I only got one of these tackled
Plan out schedule for April and beginning of May
Prep some of the contests I have planned for April and May
Organize TBR mountain before it falls on me and kills me
Organize digital TBR before my poor Kindle Fire or iPad suffocate on all of the eBooks I keep purchasing
Work out an exercise schedule (because a healthy blogger is a happy blogger!) On the exercise front, I am committed to 30 minutes of Dance Dance Revolution on the days that I don’t go horseback riding (on Extreme). I dusted off the dance pads, cleared an area for them, and dug out all of my game disks. Last weekend was really my first attempt to start DDRing again, and now that I remember how much fun it is to play, I am looking forward to improving my skills, which have gotten quite rusty.
If you participated, how did you do?
OK! It's time to start Bloggiesta-ing!
Here are my goals for the weekend:
Review books. I have 61 unreviewed books. I'll be happy if I review at least 10.
Preschedule Reviews. I'd like to preschedule all of April. I'll be happy if I get next week and the week after done.

Clean up my sidebar.
Let's get going!!!

Bloggiesta kicks off today! While I won’t have much time to work on my to do list today, I am planning on devoting lots of time to blogging activities tomorrow and Sunday. Here’s my list of activities I plan to tackle:
Create a Facebook page
Continue to figure out how to best use Pinterest
Clean up sidebar
Catch up on interview posts (I have about 7 in various stages)

Are you participating in Bloggiesta? What are your goals for the weekend?

Have you ever wanted readers to post a link on your blog post, but you didn't want them to use the comment section to do it? May be you want your readers to share a link to their latest book review or how to post. You keep using the comment section because you are intimidated by HTML or you don't have the time to try something new. Well- you have time! And let me tell you, you can leave this blog today with a new weapon in your blog arsenal!
Today you will learn how to use Mr Linky. Mr Linky is a widget that you embed into your blog post which allows readers to leave a link to their blog. It is super fast, super easy, FREE and it increases reader participation.
I have used Mr. Linky for the last year for Book Talk Tuesday and I have found it to be reliable and safe. Still confused about what Mr. Linky can do for you? Here is a screenshot of Mr. Linky in action from Book Talk Tuesday (a weekly "carnival" that allows readers to share links to their book reviews). All of the blue text next to numbers are links that readers have left using Mister Linky.
Your Mini Challenge assignment: This weekend, try this tutorial on YOUR blog and then leave a link to it in MY MisterLinky at the end of this post.
There are 2 tutorials here... the super simple tutorial and the more thorough walkthrough. Here is the simpler version:
- Create an account at the Mr. Linky site.
- Next, click on the Wizard link at the top of the page.
- Choose your blog server
- Choose the widget you want to use (I usually just use Original Auto-Linkies). FREE!
- Click on the Generate Code button.
- Follow the instructions provided.
Here is the thorough walkthrough:
Step 1: Go to the home of
Mr. Linky's Magical Widgets
Step 2: Register. Completely free and I have never received a single email from Blenza.com... ever.
Step 3: Get started making a linky for your blog! Click on Wizard to get started.

It’s almost time for Bloggiesta! If you haven’t heard of it, check out this post at It’s All About Books. Sign up while you’re there! Here’s more information about Bloggiesta:
It’s time! Do you plan to fiesta with us the weekend of March 30, 31 and April 1? Do you have things you’d like to do on your blog that you haven’t managed to get to in forever? Do you want to do those things with lots of other bloggers from all over? Talk things over with them? Bounce ideas off them? Learn from them? Teach them too?
This is a great event that will help you focus on some of the mechanical and maintenance aspects of running a blog. Need to clean up that sidebar or spruce up your review templates? You can do it during Bloggiesta! You can also participate in mini-challenges and network with other bloggers. I participated last year, and learned many useful skills to keep my blog running smoothly. Check it out if you haven’t participated before, because it is a lot of fun.
While Bloggiesta may not have solved all my bloggy problems, the weekend did get me on the right track. I only ended up spending fourteen hours on the challenge, which was less than I hoped for. However, I did accomplish most of my goals.
I did finish my comments for the Comment Challenge where I've been visiting the blogs of the participants. I made notes on my library books and returned them. I finished the notes on the Cybils picture books and have them packed and ready to send out. I went through my MotherReader email and deleted loads of emails. The ones that remain aren't all that scary to deal with either. I looked at five of the mini-challenges, but I think I only officially participated in two.
I wish I could have done more, but I realized that I don't like too much time spent on the "working" aspect of the blog. And when it's something I feel like I have to do, then it becomes work. But in tackling the projects this weekend, I thought of some better strategies for doing the working aspects, so hopefully I can carry through on that.
Thanks to Natasha at Maw Books for organizing the event. See you next year!
Checking in with a Bloggiesta update. With about six hours of work yesterday, I did finish my notes
on the library books and returned them. Of course, I ended up picking up six more titles that I had on hold or grabbed from the new bookshelf, so in a way that goal ended up as a bit of a wash. But that's a problem for later. I'm halfway through my comments for the Comment Challenge and I started making my way through the sad, sad case that is my MotherReader email. I've looked at four of the mini-challenges where I reviewed info on Mr. Linky, read about things bloggers shouldn't do, got tips about email control, and learned about making buttons and banners.
Today I'm working on the notes for Cybils picture books that I owe a reader. I have a lot more work to do in my email. I also have a few notes of things I need to change on my blog, and have a acquired a few more as I've been working. Other than that, I’ll be look at the other four mini-challenges and the review the past mini-challenges. Maybe I'll turn some of the notes into actual reviews. It could happen.
It’s still not too late to participate. No, really! Head over to Maw Books and give yourself over to improving your blog and connecting to your community. Plus, prizes!
Starting today, like now, I'll be participating in Bloggiesta, a book blogging party to focus on the work of maintaining a blog. It's amazing to me, but I actually have a free weekend to dedicate to the task. I keep waiting for someone to remind me of Something Very Important that I have forgotten, but I guess I'll roll with it.
My plan is to finish my comments for the Comment Challenge. I've been visiting the participants and need to get to about half of the blogs. I need to make notes and/or reviews for a few library books, so that I can return them. I have a few Cybils picture books that I owe a reader, and I need to make any notes I haven't done on those and pack them up. I plan to go through my MotherReader email which I haven't been attending to properly. I also have a few notes of things I need to change on my blog, so I need to actually you know, do them. Other than that, I'll be looking at the mini-challenges and the past mini-challenges. They have always been helpful and inspiring - whether teaching me something new, reminding me of a lost lesson, or giving me an energy boost.
If you haven't signed up to participate, it's not too late. Head over to Maw Books and give yourself over to improving your blog and connecting to your community. Plus, prizes!
This is my first Bloggiesta and I am very excited about participating. I have given a lot of thought to what I would like to accomplish and these are my goals:
1- Write reviews of the books I have read and not written anything about.
2- Cleans up my tags
3- My about me and about this blog need some major work, and policies need to be added, such as review, desclosure and privacy,
4- Clean up and update challenges
5- I need to back up my blog and organize the flash drive I keep all blog related information on
6- Deal with copyright and licensing issues
7- Maybe create a Facebook page for my blog
Mini-Challenges I am going to do include
Maybe I will do other things, but I think for now these are the most important.
So, it's time to party with Bloggiesta!!
Thanks for Natasha at
Maw Books for hosting this party.
Bloggiesta compeltely snuck up on me this year, but I had so much fun last year I am excited to participate again.
I will be posting a to-do list later today or tomorrow.
I'm so glad that I held the Bloggiesta Mini-Challenge asking you to stretch your comfort zone. So many brave entries! I'm proud of all of you for taking chances and shaking things up. I picked one winner at random who will receive a couple of books, courtesy of the supplies of Book Blogger Convention, and that winner is... Vicki from Reading at the Beach! Congratulations!
While I'm happy to offer a prize, I'm most excited that I was able to pose a challenge that made all participants winners. I loved reading your comments of the many ways you all pushed yourselves. It was inspirational. Here are some of the things that you're doing:
Starting a new feature/challenge/poll/contest
Emailing authors for interviews/guest posts
Emailing publishers for review copies
Asking bloggers to do guest posts
Connecting to local bookstores
Agreeing to do guest posts
Mixing up a set style
Posting reviews on Amazon
Writing a negative review
Sharing something personal
Taking a controversial stand
Facing the hard jobs of blogging
Promoting, marketing, and reaching out
Wow! Great job everyone! I love the way that everyone who approached this challenge did so in a way that tackled their own soft spots. For me, my bravery was in what I did not do. After two extremely intense days that wiped out my time, energy, and emotional reserves, I decided not to participate in Bloggiesta on Sunday as I planned. Usually, I would worry about neglecting my blog or letting someone down or whether it was appropriate to run a challenge - and then personally bail on the event. And, to be fair, I remained a bit worried about those things. But for me, this weekend, the brave thing was to take care of myself on Sunday - even if it provided a sort of ironic twist to the very challenge I was proposing.
Thanks to everyone who played along. I hope this push to be brave carries over in your blogging for a long time to come. Blog on!
Well, I had to go to work today, so that cut out some of my Bloggiesta time. I also realized one of my goals was impossible for this weekend (and not just for sheer numbers. I know most of mine are practically not going to happen, but this one just CAN'T happen) and thought of some more...
Basically, this blog is supposed to be a record of *Everything* I read, so I link to reviews published elsewhere. I have many reviews published in School Library Journal that I haven't linked to yet that I want to, but due to their moving to new systems, their reviews aren't online at the moment, so I can't exactly link to them, can I? (or find out if certain ones ran this June. The work copy hasn't gotten to my desk yet.) So, that goal gets delayed for now.
But, I remembered that my blog roll needs updating and that I my early posts aren't tagged (Because Blogger didn't have tagging functions back then. In fact, I'm not sure tagging exsisted 5 years ago. The internet moves so fast!) So, there are two more goals.
So far, I've been going for 9 hours.
1. Read 1500 blog posts. (I'm currently 1300 behind, but surely 200 more will appear in my reader by the end of this weekend. Heck, probably by the end of today.) I've read 768, which brings my unread posts to under 1000! Huzzah!)
2. Write 65 book reviews. I've done 2
3. Pre-schedule 2 weeks worth of reviews
4. Catch up on my record-keeping
5. Organize my google reader
6. Add reviews to LibraryThing
7. Challenge posts
8. Tell you about my SLJ reviews
10. Write 10 non-review blog posts
11. Tag old posts, add links and pictures
12. Clean up the blogroll
Hours spent Bloggiesta-ing: 6
Things accomplished:
1. Google reader organized
2. 350 posts read (out of 1500)
3. 2 reviews written (out of 65)
Carrie wins "most helpful hint of the day" award for pointing out that if I look in Google trends, it will tell me how many blog posts I've read in a given day! Huzzah!
Anyway, I've now been Bloggiesta-ing for 2 hours. So far I have.
1. Organized my google reader
2. Read 178 blog posts.
In my non-Bloggiesta-ing time, I've been to the bank, the dry-cleaners and salon. My eyebrows no longer look like caterpillars trying to eat my face and my hair is shorter and physically lighter (in color, it's actually much darker.) Seriously, I only cut about 4 inches off (plus some thinning to deal with the weight) but I think I might have lost 5 pounds just by cutting my hair. Easiest and prettiest diet ever!
Sure, I post the post and then forget a few things I wanted to say:
I'm not reading every blog post. Some get skimmed, some are showing up in my feed multiple times (especially for the blogs that are part of the bloggiesta feed that I already follow, some of the blogs I follow have weird feed issues where some posts will post multiple times.)
ALSO! I just wanted to say that in one of the posts I read today, I discovered that there is a naked Korean spa in the area! I've wanted to try one since reading about it in North of Beautiful.
Ok, this is just frustrating!
It's hard to accurately track how many blog-posts you've read when more posts keep getting added to your reader. In reality, my "read 1500 blog posts" means "get my google reader back down to 0."
So, I spent an hour reading posts. Yes, it didn't help that I added the bloggiesta feed to my reader. But... all the new posts and the old posts? After an hour, doing the math, it looks like I only read 3. SERIOUSLY. Oiy vey. Ah well. I know that I made a dent and will keep chipping away, slowly but surely.
I did, however, get my google reader organized. I had a lot of new blogs that weren't in folders, so now they're all filed away.
If you're interested, my folders are
Book stuff (my must read round of book blogs)
Book stuff 2 (book blogs I like but aren't "must reads")
China (blogs that cover China or Chinese language)
Friends (blogs written by my friends or people I at least know)
Local (This is a new folder I just created! It's for all my local news/happenings blogs)
Fun (This is for everything that doesn't fit into one of the above catagories.)
So, 1 hour in, I've read 3 blog posts (?!?!?!?!?!?!?) and organized my google reader.
Now, I'm off to run some errands and do something other things that have to get done. I wish I could easily read my google reader on my phone. Maybe I'll try to figure that out... hmmmm...
