What was your favorite book when you were a child/teen?
A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett
If you could go back in time and meet one author, who would it be and why?
Charles Dickens. I’d love to be able to attend one of his public readings, where he acted out all the parts of the characters from his novels. Supposedly he could hold an audience completely in his power, just with his voice, for hours on end. I’d also want to attend one of his dinner parties – he was a famously welcoming host. And I’d want to spy on him and try to figure him out.
Are you a loner or social butterfly?
I am the kind of introvert who’s very social with those people that she knows and likes.
If you could travel by hot air balloon, what would you fly over?
A sea of soft mattresses!

Chocolate chip
Which fictional character would you most like to meet?
The heroine of my favorite book, Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte, even though I bet Jane would be a massive pain in the butt in real life.
When you were 12 years old what did you want to be when you grew up?
A writer!
One food you would never eat?
Mayonnaise. Shudder.
Pet Peeve?
The incorrect formation of a plural using an apostrophe. Just add an s! By itself! No apostrophe! God!
What movie and/or book are you looking forward to this year?
The movie version of Beastly, from the novel by Alex Flinn – due out spring, 2011.
What kind of book do you read when you get sick?
I reread old favorite books when I’m sick. I don’t want anything new. And romances are best.

Computer.

A puffin.
