1. Beans will be spilled.

So... I have some fun news to share. My newsletter subscribers got the 411 last week (they're always the first to know these things... hint, hint) but it was only a matter of days before I spilled the beans to YOU, my friends!! So, without further adieu here is a little fun news!

I'm a greeting card fanatic (but I know you know this already) and Recycled Paper Greetings has always held a very special place in my heart, ever since I was a starry/arty-eyed teen selling Boynton, Melcher and Englebreit Cards and goods at BeDazzled Upbeat Cards & gifts in the Dedham Mall. I'm now proud to declare that I have signed with RPG and I am now an official Recycled Paper Greetings artist! Yes that's right! Thus far, I have one birthday card design which will debut in their regular line within the next few months. (No I am not on the web site yet and please don't hold your breath on that one - these things take time.) But I will share new cards and further developments with you right here.

Just about EVERYTHING JAPANESE has been a creative influence since I was wee! Yes, I was a little 5 year old with my Hello Kitty mini-stationery and pencils writing and drawing and imagining away, even coming up with my own little characters. Ever since that time I have dreamed of having my art in Japan. Well, guess what? Dreams can come true! In 2012, I signed with Japan agency SCT. The fine people at SCT introduced my art to adorable gift purveyor Bestever Japan and, yes, the rest is WellerWish-story! I am now thrilled to announce the cute-doggie gift line The Kathy Weller Collection with Bestever is set to debut first products in early spring 2013. Yes! Though the goods won't be carried stateside, they WILL be available for purchase online. More info on this soon.

2. New puzzle!

Hey there!  I'm still tired from Ballet Week! All those pirouettes made me a little dizzy, I'll be honest... But, I am having so much fun sharing stuff with you, who am I to take a break now? I'm on a roll...
New Puzzle!!

New Puzzle!!

 New Puzzle!!

Do you like puzzles? I do!

My new puzzle Witches' Wardrobe is now readily available from the fabulous Barnes & Noble. Just had to let you know! I'll be sharing tidbits about the making of this puzzle throughout this week, so come on back for a little peek into my process...
That is, if you dare...mua ha ha...

3. a scissor story

Funky Town Brown colorway ( with song to match)
One teeny tiny little detail I left out of my inability to sew story is my relationship with the scissor at large. I have always had troubles with scissors, ever since I could hold a pair. I cannot cut a straight line to save my life. This has always been an impediment. I am the epitome of scissor-challenged.

Here's my theoretical breakdown as to why:

25%: left-handedness
20%: small, crab-like hands with big knuckles
30%: complete inability to cut a straight line
25%: irrational, paralyzing fear

SO... I received some of my fabric from Northcott. The fabric arrived in large, one-piece swaths. I needed to break them down into single yards in order to send the fabric off to people who have the magical talents to transform them into stuff. (From now on, I will refer to these people as genius sewing fairies.)  I dreaded this task. All week, every night, I wondered how on earth I was going to section it out without butchering it beyond recognition. I had no idea how my poor fabric would fare under Kathy Scissorhands.

here's some "Sassy Pink" for ya (with a little sassy pink to go with)
Today, it was time to face the scissors.

I broke out my scissors.

4. Northcott Fabrics

I am SO, SO excited to share with you that I have partnered with Northcott Silk, Inc., a wonderful fabric company out of Canada (with another office in NJ). Northcott produces high quality, gorgeous fabrics for quilting, home sewing, craft, and DIY sewing. They have worldwide distribution and their lines are carried in dedicated fabric shops all over the place. I'm thrilled to now be a designer with Northcott. My debut collection is set for Fall 2011 release! I can't wait to share my art in this way with you, and I think this means I'll have to take up sewing myself! I won't be able to resist!

I will share more information here, as I am able.

5. Receiving Gifts

As I mentioned in a previous post, I visited my extremely talented and funny friend, famed licensed artist Ellen Crimi-Trent the weekend before last. I would like to share with you some of the faboo things she gave me in our fun Holiday Swap... Check it out!

Look at the snowman gift bag! The ear muffs are flocked and they are soft and velvety.

I realize that I am a super geek but I never get tired of seeing friend's/other artists I admire's names in print and on the bottom of a gift bag, for instance. I know it is very geeky of me but hey, it is a big deal. It is something I aspire to myself and I am proud to know Ellen and others who are so successful at market in this business! I think it always will be exciting for me, I will always be cheering. And, look, it had BETTER be exciting and stay that way, if I plan to be in the art licensing biz myself for the long haul -and I do!!  :)

Here is another type of gift package featuring the same collection of art. This one comes with a cute red ribbon. Very snazzy.

Look at this cute gift bag with the adorable character doggie with the funny blue sweater and the gift! On one side (the top pic), there is flat art. On the other side (bottom pic) it is a die-cut 3D dog attached to the bag.(You can see the shadow where the doggy stands out.) Pretty cool! And, there are also greeting cards in this collection, which also feature the 3D design. So neat!

I love this candy cane bag - I especial
