1. Bananagrams®–fast, fun, word-building

My sister-in-law loves games and during the summer holds game days.  Family and friends gather and play games.  She turned me on to Bananagrams®, a wonderfully addictive word game!  Launched in 2006 at the London Toy Fair, Bananagrams® became a “modern classic.” It consists of 144 letter tiles in a banana-shaped zippered pouch.  It’s a faced paced word building game, great for practicing high frequency words, developing spelling skills and building vocabulary.  There are more games too:  Appletters™ and Pairs in Pears™, both by the same company, Bananagrams®.  Appletters™ is designed for the younger player, a strategy game building words from letter tiles.  Pairs in Pears™ is a fast paced pair making word game that “helps children develop memory and cognitive skills while learning the alphabet, pattern recognition, word construction, vowels, vocabulary, and rhyming.”

I think you’ll get hooked on these great word games.  You can purchase them online through the Bananagrams® website or the Really Good Stuff catalog ;  Educational Exchange teacher store and Just Awesome! The Board Game Store, both in San Francisco.  You’ll go bananas!
