I love Philadelphia; you know that I do. I loved our lunch at the Reading Terminal Market before the show, loved walking, in anticipation, up Broad Street, loved stepping inside the melting pot that Philadelphia has always been—so many different voices and languages in the sold-out audience of the Merriam Theater. And of course, I love tango—fell at once for the passion and talent and acrobatics and commitment of the Fire dancers—and tapas are my favorite meal at any time; no one does them better than Jose Garces.
But if you look here, at these photos, you will find, between a picture from the Reading Market lunch and the view outside our hotel window, that something utterly unexpected happened during this already perfect afternoon and evening; the dancers from Tango Fire had come as well to Amada. I had my little camera with me. They acquiesced to a photograph. So that there I am, happier than I can say, among the things and places and man I love.

That sounds like a wonderful evening. And what fun that the crew was at the restaurant. Tapas by Jose Garces sounds AMAZING. Very random question but have you ever been to this restaurant? http://www.vetriristorante.com/ I saw something about it on the cooking channel and I tried to figure out how I could get on a train to Philadelphia to eat there immediately. I'm pretty sure I'm going to plan a weekend trip around it!

First to Beth: So happy you and your husband had this beautiful, once-in-a-lifetime day.
For Melissa: For our 30th wedding anniversary, my husband and I had a night on the level Beth describes here--only at Vetri. We had been given a gift certificate by our oldest son for the tasting menu there—you get little samples of all their best stuff. It was heaven. My husband and I still go into a swoon just remembering that evening, and feel like we are dancing. And we don't dance!
Worth the train ride, yes.

Hello (and thank you) everyone. It really was such a special time. Melissa, I don't know this restaurant you reference — I can count on one hand and perhaps three fingers the number of Philly restaurants to which I've gone over the last many years. But I would go with what Kathye has to say here. It sounds like a pretty special place.
Your husband obviously knows you SO well, putting together a day filled with all the perfect things.
That in itself is such a gift :) And then to get the day on top of it! Marvelous!
