1. Classic Lit Meets Video Game In Digital Adaptation

In 1935 Alfred Hitckcock adapted John Buchan’s spy thriller The Thirty-Nine Steps, making a classic film. Now a Scottish-based company called TernTV is reimagining the story in a “digital adaptation.”

The company’s idea is reinvent classic literature into interactive books that are experienced like video games–literature for the iPad and the video game console.

Simon Meek, head of digital and multi-platform content and executive producer at TernTV, described the experience to Kotaku.com. He said: “Players enter the stories through the events that take place in that story, and at that point experience the story from the inside out. We place them in the world in which the story is set, and are using a combination of original art and games engine to create some truly stunning environments.”
