I'd recommend The Benefactor by Margaret Reyes Dempsey and 0 to 60 by Susan Slater. Both novels were very strong in characterization. Both were easy to read and hard to put dowm. Both were compelling and delightful.

2 books I'd recommend are Red Headed Step Child by Jaye Wells,the action starts right away and was a fantastic book.The other Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater,I just loved the unique way she wrote the story.

A Lion Among Men by Gregory Macguire - So much to this series other than its connection to the Wizard of Oz. Everyone should read it.
One Scream Away by Kate Brady - reminded me why I love romantic suspense. Great novel.

2 books I would highly recommend that I read in 2009 were:
If There Be Dragons by Kay Hooper. I liked this one because it was a very mild foray into the paranormal, my first experience with it.
Spellbound by Nora Roberts. The same sort of reasons. This book had a very magical quality.

Two great books I read last year are Outlander by Diana Gabaldon and The Summer Tree by Guy Gavriel Kay.
Why I loved Outlander? 1 word - Jamie.
The Summer Tree has a great plot and a really creative world.

Traveling with Pomegranates for an enlightening mother-daughter experience. And Lies My Mother Never Told Me because it really opened my eyes to the dangers of alcoholism and how it can affect relationships.

I enjoyed The Briar King and The Charnel Prince by Greg Keyes. The are books 1 and 2 of The Kingdoms of Thorn and Bone series.

I recommend American Libre, since illegal immigration is an issue in the US , the plot provides food for thought. I also recommend Blackwater, so that Americans can learn how our money is being spent in the War on Terror and so that we can question the role of the private militia in America.
