University of Huddersfield has launched a short story and poetry competition to find material for its new anthology Grist.
The once a year publication will include the winning selections alongside established writers.
The Grist website explains: "Grist is interested in fresh new voices with something to say.
By publishing emerging writers alongside established writers, Grist provides a unique opportunity for those starting out in their writing careers. For the reader of Grist, each issue in book form will provide two hundred pages of the best new writing around."

Polychromo pencil on board
I'm back to my Polychromos! That last one, the Cretacolor, just irked me enough that I had to go back to my faves. You know how when you go on vacation and sleep in hotels and try all new things, then you come home and sleep in your own bed and go "Ahhhhhhh"...well that's how my Polychromos feel to me.
I did this with just the Dark Sepia one.
You can hardly tell that's a pear underneath all that yarn, but yep, its there.
So check this out: (click it to make it bigger)
Look at how greenish the Polychromo sepia looks compared to the others!
My favorite "non black" here is the Chocolate Derwent Drawing pencil, by far.
I do like the Cretacolor Dark Sepia COLOR, but hate working with the pencil.
My favorite pencils to work with are still the Polychromos, but I can deal with the Derwent.
There's one more I want to try before the jury is all in. I need to do some Coloursofts and see what I can do with those, then I'll make my decision.

I like the warmth of the Chocolate and Sepia Derwent pencils. Next the Poly Dark Sepia.
I'm just talking about the tones as I see them. All your drawings are superb (my favorite is the pear all tangled up. You could have done it in blue (Tangled up in Blue...a little Bob Dylan ref)
;-)
Hey, hey Paula! You win- go here!

When you say Derwent Drawing, do you mean 'as opposed to Derwent Artists' pencils?
I am an old 'pencil in the mud', and have used only the Derwent Artists pencils.
I use Chocolate rather than Sepia.
Leslie, are you reading this?
Here's a link to the drawing pencils on Derwent's site. They have a LOT of stuff there, didn't realize they made quite so much.
I like the chocolate too.
