I wish I could follow them
your million footprints,
the ones left in the sands
the ones embedded in the moss
the ones at the middle of the mountain
the place where you turned around
I would count them all
your million footprints,
they are little breaths
that kept you through the seasons
they are little thoughts
that made up your worlds
I want to walk alongside them
your million footprints,
and see the places you saw
meet the people you met
do the things you did
live the days you lived
I would collect each one
your million footprints,
but you have walked too much
and rested so little
that a thousand lifetimes aren't enough
to trace them all
your million footprints
