Kieler Woche is a festival that takes place each year in Kiel, Germany. The festival includes nautical competitions as well as cultural events. Each year 5 designers are invited to submit 3 sketches for the event’s poster. The rules are simple. The text on the poster must be limited to only Kieler Woche and the year. The type for Kieler Woche must be set in Adrian Frutiger’s Univers. Lastly the the image must give equal weight to the sailing competition as to the cultural aspects of the festival.
Designers that have contributed to this event include: Wim Crouwel, Michael Engelmann, Celestino Piatti, Anton Stankowski, Waldemar Swierzy, Otto Treumann, Hans Schweiss, Jean Widmer, Ruedi Baur, Ben Bos, Siegfried Odermatt and Rosemarie Tissi. For those interested, I uploaded the Otto Treumann poster to the grain edit flickr account.

I just finished drawing this movie poster for the historic Artcraft Theatre.
It's an old theatre in Franklin, IN and our poster company Mile 44 has teamed up with them to provide money for funding the theatre by creating a series of collectible, handmade movie posters for some of the theatre's showings.
The posters in the series are sold in the theatre lobby as well as through our poster
So – who is your hero? That’s the question we’re asking in the run-up to publishing Nick Hornby’s first ever book for teens, Slam. It stars Sam, a 16-year-old skater whose girlfriend gets pregnant and his whole world flips upside down. He turns to his idol for advice, skate legend Tony Hawk, talking to him through the poster on his bedroom wall.
See where we’re going with this? Design a poster of your hero and win the chance to have it exhibited at London’s Design Museum, alongside the work of our celebrated designers. We’ve teamed up with seven cutting edge designers including eboy, Maya Wild and Peter Stitson, who have created these posters of the heroes and heroines from their own teenage days.
The fourteen finalists will also win the chance to be a VIP at Slam’s London launch party.
Interested? Just go to www.mtv.co.uk/slam to enter. And from mid- September see your entries on spinebreakers.co.uk.
It’s that simple. Show us what you’ve got.

This one is kind of a cheat since I just posted this image yesterday. But a friend of mine looked at my little recruitment poster and instantly zeroed in on what was missing: "There really ought to be some incentive for joining up, don't you think?" I agree, hence the green girl. The texture I added to this poster was a freebie provided by the brilliant Von Glitschka. If you're not familiar with Von's work, you owe it yourself to check it out.

There's an awesome new art show I stumbled coming soon featuring some of the finest illustrators in the country. The title? The Shatner Show, all art featuring Captain Kirk himself. After seeing all the amazing work on this site, I couldn't help but be inspired to come up with my own Shatner-inspired illustration.

I was asked to design a poster for an art show in Mexico called 'DO2'. I had been thinking a lot about the environment and green related topics the past two days after reading an article titled 'Plastic Ocean'. I was inspired to create art that had a green theme to it. I decided to play off the tribal tattoo look but instead of being hard core I gave it a subtle foliage flair while limiting my color palette to greens.
I'd love to get this printed some day on recycled paper using soy inks to really push the whole green aspect of it. I think that would be really cool.
I love these posters of yours. It's Stacy. but it's deep dark Stacy. Bizarro Stacy.
