Happy Book Blogger Appreciation Week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As we all know book bloggers kick ass!! As a small part of the festivities this week I signed up to interview and be interviewed by a fellow book blogger. I was matched with the lovely and fabulous Em from Love Ya Lit. Of course she's my new BFF so check her out!!!
1) The best book you've read this year would be....
I am going to cheat a little on this one (you don't mind, right? it is too hard to pick one!).
For "adult" books, I would have to say Girl in Translation by Jean Kwok (crossover to YA potential on this one) and Cat's Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut.
For YA books, I really loved "Ship Breaker" by Paolo Bacigalupi. I love dystopian fiction and this one was extremely well written, had diverse characters (in just about every sense of the word), and a lot of adventure. My co-blogger Nora and I did a joint review of this one: http://loveyalit.com/?p=480.
For junior readers, I thought The Popularity Papers: Research for the Social Improvement and General Betterment of Lydia Goldblatt and Julie Graham-Chang by Amy Ignatow was adorable - sweet, funny, heart-warming.
And for the early readers, "Good Night Garden Gnome" by Jamichael Henterly, Ira Sleeps Over by Bernard Waber, and Bird by Zetta Elliott are some of my "new" favorites.
2) The book you've most wanted to read

I loved these quirky questions...especially the one about the shoes!
Thanks so much. It's fun to be a little wacky!!!
seriously, it has been far too long since I've had some good ol' strawberry pie. this interview made me crave it so much!
Jeannine I love your questions, especially the one about one book character to save your life :D
Em, I want to give everyone a copy of The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian! Oo pie. I've only recently discovered the wonder that is pie. Lemon meringue, key lime and apple. I intend on trying other kinds (my family is not made up of pie eaters so I'm flying solo).
I want to read more Salman Rushdie. I've only read Haroun and the Sea of Stories. I want to read Midnight's Children and the Satanic Verses.
Girl in Translation is on my list of books to get asap.
Ari you've got to get Girl in Translation NOW!!!!! It's amazing. As for pie, Em you and Ari both need to come visit me, there is an entire pie bakery about 6 minutes from my house. YUM-O. It's a pie party!!!!!!!
Pie Party! Can we do that right now? Pie for breakfast. Yum!
*hopping on plane* I'm ready for pie breakfast! lunch and dinner. ahhhh.
IF I get any money/bookstore giftcards for my birthday, I'm buying Girl in Translation.
