Thanks for the shout-out about Ruth's visit to my blog.
And what do I love about writing? For me, it's about writing fiction. So, what's so special about that?
Hmm. That's a tough one. Let's see. Staring at blank space waiting for my muse, who's been busy visiting Janet Evanovich and Stephanie Meyer, who are making tons of money while I'm not? No, that's not it.
Maybe it's having my back-side go numb after sitting too long? No, that's not it, either. Although it does happen every day. My chair has a permanent indentation; I feel so bad (or is it badly) for it.
How about, being able to give a voice and a world to characters who otherwise would be unknown, even if I don't get paid a lot for doing it?

Thanks for asking, Cathy. It was a fun question to think about. Oops, did I just end a sentence with a preposition? Sister Vincent Marie (my high school English teacher who told our class to forget about the Beatles because they were just a flash-in-the pan, but who, herself, is no longer a nun) would be horrified.
Donna, you made me laugh out loud! I feel your Janet E/Stephanie M pain-not to mention that oh-so-permanent pain in my backside :-)
I can't say my fiction has made me fabulously wealthy, but I think I've been enriched from some of the characters I've created.
And I know I'm a richer person for having writing friends like you and Ruth and all the other writers who've shared their thoughts these past two weeks. May the luckiest writer win! :-)
