1. We have been through so much

So many survivors of child sexual abuse have a multitude of reasons why they have no interest in getting involved with a recovery program; better the devil I know than the devil I don't, it would upset my family, it really wasn't that bad, and it has no impact on my adult life, are just a few I've heard over the years.  Behind these words I hear the voice of fear.  The thought of treading back over all those memories, and sometimes the realization (albeit in the unconscious mind) that if we went through recovery and started getting better we wouldn't be able to blame a lot of our behavior patterns on our childhood sexual abuse is very unselttling.  We might have to actually be accountable.  That is too scary, way too scary.  But we have already been through so much.  We don't think we have the strength, but we do.  How did we ever survive all the child sexual abuse if we aren't strong from the inside.  You can do it!  You can change your life for the better.  You can actually be HAPPY!  You can get REPAIRED.  One day, when the journey through recovery is finished you'll look back and wonder what took you so long.  Do it now, before it's too late.
