1. Granted by Michelle Merrill

Granted by Michelle MerrillI just spent far too much time ignoring my children to read Granted by Michelle Merrill. But, what’s a girl to do when Future House Publishing gives her an advanced copy in exchange for an unbiased review, and the book is actually entertaining? You see my problem. I maintain that I made the right decision.

Granted is unique, it’s clean, it’s just-one-more-chapter-before-I-sleep engaging. If only I had my own genie to grant my wish for book two to be published already!

Though it is definitely geared toward the teenage girl crowd, (given all the cute boys with dimples and detailed shopping scenes) as an adult I would read it again and again. Seriously, how can you resist a book with a blurb like this?

All sixteen-year-old genie Brielle wants is freedom. And magic. After being trapped in the Saharan desert her whole life, she finally gets her first assignment in Tri-Cities, Washington, but freedom turns sour when genies start dying. One broken lamp could be an accident, but after three, Brielle knows someone’s discovered their secret and wants them gone. Her caretaker, Vicky—retired OCD genie extraordinaire—doesn’t seem too concerned. And until Brielle’s assigned human, Addie, makes a wish, she’ll never get her magic. Unfortunately, Addie isn’t the “wish making” type—more like an artistic introvert who wants nothing more than isolation and an everlasting stock of Mountain Dew. But now, Brielle needs Addie to unlock her magic so she can stop the murderer before she’s the next genie to die.

And as if your interest isn’t already piqued, do you know what that blurb is missing? A smokin’ hot (no pun intended) genie named Rock who is also in danger. Enough said.

Granted will be available for a discount of $2.99 (down from 4.99) on June 30th – July 7th.
