1. Comment on Being an Inspiration by Barb

Wow! What an experience! I hardly know how to respond. As an introvert as well, I can’t imagine trying to cope with huge energy in a foreign language and culture plus the deafness! So many things bombarding you and then the expectation of an angry response on top. I think I’m amazed that you only had one panic attack, and to keep going after, I hope you realize how strong you are, and how courageous.

The thing is that observers would have no idea of the stress you were under. They wouldn’t know about the anger issue, the deafness, how it feels to try to function in a foreign place. They are in their home environment and comfortable. It’s lovely that they were empathetic and gave you the space you needed to recover while it reminds me to keep in mind how I likely don’t know why a person is reacting the way they are.

And their being inspired by Brad’s response, that’s awesome. At the risk of being accused of having a gender bias, I would guess that part of that is seeing a guy being kind and empathetic. It’s wonderful to be able to present a different way of being. So often we don’t make a choice simply because we have no idea a choice is available.
