1. Comment on Does Gastric Bypass Surgery Help Fibromyalgia by Claudia

I had my surgery in April 1rst… LOL! Yes on that date!!! Well, last week was my 7 months mark since the GB. I started working about two months ago, and since then I started having more muscle and joint pains. My first week of work my left hand knuckles and other joints in the fingers got swollen. It slowly went away after two weeks, but depending on my load of work it comes back. Last week, I started having intense lower back pain that goes a lil’ towards the front, and the pain was killing me. After a week I went to the doctor, and she took xrays, blood work, and gave me a tramadol injection. Now I am waiting for results from the tests. I had lost 100 pounds since the surgery, and everything had been fine until now with the pains in my muscles and joints. I did started feeling pains when I was working out after surgery, but not as bad as now. One friend that had the surgery a few years before me told me today that she developed FM after her GB. She told me that her Dr said that many ppl develops FM after a GB. I am just starting to research about it, and I hope to get more information. I am very sensitive to stress; it was one of my previous problems, and I’d been trying to deal with it with everyday activitities. I am a lil’ scared with getting sick since the surgery; I know I feel stronger because going from 320 pounds to 220 pounds is a big difference, but I am a lil’ worried of the unknown stuff I can have because of the lack of vitamins etc. I hear a lot of horror stories, but I am happy with the surgery. I just hope that the Dr can figure out my muscles and joints pain, and I guess we can go from there.
