Have you even a clue what I’m talking about when I or anyone else mentions pinterest? I heard a lot about it, and then 18 months ago started up an account for myself, and have found it a great place, not just to store things, but to also find things. I now have 29 boards with a mixture of collections on them.
To start with I set up story boards about my stories, One Starry Night, Snowfall, and A Sunny Day. I know a lot of authors who do this with their books, and as a reader, I have enjoyed seeing some of the backgrounds to their stories. I also set up a board called Christian Children, where I’ve added children’s books, DVDs, songs, and some of my previous blog posts. There’s also one called Christian Book Videos, which gives you a taste of the book ~ I’ve included adult and children’s books here.
I’m also a Nursery Nurse, working in a nursery with 3 and 4 year olds. So I have some boards with themes I can use with them. I have a general Children’s Activities board, and then others titled Winter Fun!, Autumn Fun! and Fun with Colour. My Christmas Time! and He is Risen! boards are a mixture of adult and children’s interests. What I’ve found helpful about having these boards is that when you find something online, you can pin it to your board, and then it’s easy to find it when you want it again.
A lot of my teacher friends use pinterest not only to find activities, but to store them as well. I also know a lot of homeschooling parents use pinterest. You can have as many boards as you want, and create the name for the board. You can also start following other people who have homeschooling boards to help you out. All you do is put the word you need to look for in pinterest’s search engine, and you will get a list of either items to click on, or people’s boards to see.
Maybe you don’t home school, but there are days when you wonder how to keep your children occupied. There are lots of fun activities to find.
I know a lot of people who have recipe boards. Have you ever found a recipe online, printed it out, lost the recipe, but then can’t find it again? Well, now you can have a place to keep them. It’s easy to find recipes for family dinners, or easy recipes for the children to use. If you love baking, then this would probably be a great place to find (and keep!) new recipes.
Then, of course, if you find any of our blog posts interesting and you want to go back and read them sometime, then we have a pinterest sharing button at the bottom of our posts ~ it’s the red square with the white p on it. Most blogs now have this button, so it isn’t just our blog posts you can collect. If the article doesn’t have a “Pin It” button, then when you sign up to pinterest (which is free, by the way!) you will download a “Pin It” button that will go on your toolbar to use if the site doesn’t own one.
Enjoy your pinning!
