Years ago, I used to go to open jazz or blues jams in MA area with my flute, and every time before they started, they would do a sound check of the Mic. "Testing, Testing, One, Two, Three" . I'm not really sure how that works actually. Either the mic is working or it's not. I suppose the T words make the sounds really pop and see if they work or not.
I'm not having much success looking for a day job in MA area. I just colored my hair a lot darker to see if that might help me. I'm not sure it will or not. I might have to review the way I am interviewing as well.
I also thought I should start helping promote other Picture Book Authors, Illustrators, Publishers and so forth by creating a Fan page on Facebook at Promoting Picture Books Fan page - so feel free to join us there by promoting your picture book! I also decided that I need to create a new blog to help push books. Maybe this is fate staring me in the face.
I also know that my RenPerfMerch page is doing rather well, now I just need to figure out a way to make money from it.
Things are rather tight at the moment and I'm trying to do this one day at a time thing. In the meantime, we're already sending out applications for Silver Kingdom Festival Silver Kingdom Festival - the dates for that will be August 15th and 16th.
We're still waiting on Hammond Castle for next year's dates, but do keep late July open. As soon as we get word, we'll let you all know!
I know life is full of tests. Sometimes I don't do well at tests. Sometimes I totally fail those tests, but that's how I learn from them. Sort of like life. You always are learning, testing, failing, succeeding and growing. At least I hope so.
