1. What are the Differences between a Labradoodle and Goldendoodle?

Labradoodle vs goldendoodleYou have decided that you do indeed want to buy a dog, maybe one that is nice, tidy, doesn’t shed and certainly does not make you sneeze! Well there is a breed out there to suit all of your needs…but wait, there’s actually two: the Labradoodle and the Goldendoodle.

What is the Difference?
Well quite simply, a Goldendoodle is cross between a gold retriever and a poodle. A labradoodle is the cross between a Labrador and a poodle.

How Different is the Temperament?
If it takes your fancy for a designer dog, you will want to evaluate which type of dog suits your needs. Labradoodles can be a good choice for their temperament. Labradors were often utilized in dog training centers to be guide dogs for the visually impaired. Before the puppy can be registered for this career, it is subjected to a number of imitation tests which can determine whether or not it is suitable to be a guide dog. One of these tests is a stress test. This is when the dog is subjected to loud and offensive noises such as screaming and care horns. A normal dog will usually be frightened at these noises and flee. Of course that would be totally unsuitable as a guide dog. Those that remain calm throughout are the perfect candidates. This advanced stress response is highly desired by pet owner, who like their dog to be clam. As a result, why not have some Labrador in your designer dog?

Which Would Be Best as a Therapy Dog?
The best possible choice for the Goldendoodle would be as a therapy dog. They do not tend to cause trouble when the visit hospitals or other sensitive areas were animal misbehavior would be a taboo. This is not the case for the labradoodles that are highly excitable and would cause a fuss. The Labradoodles are harder to convince to enter into your environment, they will need time to make up their mind about you first.

There you have it. The choice of labradoodle against Goldendoodle is one of purpose. A Goldendoodle would be absolutely useless being put to work as a guide dog because they would freak out at cars and loud noises and flee, leaving their blind person behind. A Goldendoodle would also make an abysmal therapy dog due to its inability to settle itself in sensitive areas were horseplay would be frowned upon.
