I dreamt that an artist whose works i admire came over to my house to do some of his own paintings. we let him occupy the basement (funny thing is, in reality, there's no such thing as 'basement' here in Malaysian houses) i wanted to approach him, to ask if he can teach me, but i was too shy. instead of talking, i will find excuses to go down to the basement to see his painting process. Not sure how but out of the blue my nephews were with me as well and i had to entertain them down there at the basement. the interior changed to a corner of my own house corner years ago, where i have all the badly done paintings displayed on a cabinet. As i was entertaining my nephews, i suddenly remembered the artist and turned around. he was there sitting very quietly, looking at me, deep in thought. Although he didn't seemed to mind our presence, i apologized for our intrusion. As we were exiting, i was overwhelmed by regret, that why have i not thought of removing my own paintings before his arrival. Well, i guess i must really want a right mentor or formal trainings in art. I've never dreamt of any painting artist until now. While I continue my search, i will have to bear with the traffic congestions every morning and every night. But if the destination is to the place of a great painter who can also teach well to learn under him/her, i'm willing to go through 2 hours of bad traffic per journey everyday.

Are you coming to Taiwan for advanced studies in art soon?
hey weichuen, my focus is really on figurative art and so far i've been impressed with 2 art schools, one in LA and the other in Beijing. Unfortunately, last year, after knowing how far off i am from finanacial 'survival' in LA i have to let that go. I cannot afford to follow most people's advice on these 2 words: "JUST GO!". If i cannot afford all 3 years of the course i would rather not go at all. what's the point of only taking the first foundation year and come back to Malaysia with nothing and to nothing? The scholarships offered are not sufficient to cover the expenses. The one in Beijing is more affordable, but they require chinese proficiency of at least HSK 6. I have none. and the total years would be at least 5 years. I really cannot afford 5 years, due to my age, i can't take the risk. If you do know of a good Figurative painter in Taipei, do let me know....i'm all willing to work menial jobs while i take lessons under someone who will know how to guide me. All i want is the right teacher! sorry for ranting away...i'm rather desperate as you can see. by the way, i've written to NTUA before and their response was so cold i couldn't be bothered with asking more.
I see...I think you have a very clear direction. Do you think the idea of going to LA is feasible if you try to save money for a few more years?
I am sorry about NTUA's response, but maybe it's a blessing in disguise...
Take good care and enjoy painting no matter what ok?
Thank you so much Weichuen...a few more years? a few more years, my parents will be even older and it will be harder to leave them on their own for a few years then.
