1. APRIL IS NATIONAL POETRY MONTH DAY 5

PICTURE BOOK
STORY IN POETIC VERSE

SAY HELLO
written and illustrated by
Jack and Michael Foreman
Publisher: Candlewick Press
Copyright: 2008
ISBN: 0-7636-3657-6
ISBN 13: 978-0-7636-3657-9
I am not sure if I should say this is a book in verse or rhyme, there is a meter and a little rhyme, but not on every page...... Tell you what, you read it and decide....
BUT
First, I will say, I liked the simplicity of this book. It's sweet and it's one that I think most children and adults can relate to.  It's about someone, who looks loney, is lonely and is need of a friend.  That is when a smile and a single word can make all the difference in someone's life..... SAY HELLO.
NOVEL IN VERSE
SUMMERHOUSE TIME
written by Eileen Spinelli
Illustrated by Joanne Lew-Vriethoff
Publisher: Dell Yearling
Copyright: c2007, 2009
ISBN: 0-440-42224-8
ISBN 13: 978-0-440-42224-2
It's hard to be a 'tween' but family makes all the difference.  This is a story about a family tradition of summer get-togethers at the same beach house, each summer.  This is a story of one summer of problems, and problem solvers, and first loves.
Told in free verse
this is the first few stanzas of the first poem:
******************************************
******************************************
FIRST SATURDAY IN JUNE
Fifty-nine days to go
I can't find my purple beach towel.
I can't even get to my closet.
without walking across
a sea of dirty socks
