At last, my latest children's book is available. Not only is it in paper but will be a full colour ebook as well. What a thrill that will be. Technology is taking my dreams as well as many other authours to new hights.
Ebooks can provide clips of author insights as well as videos in some cases. The Apple store has an app now that a child can colour the illistrations of a book themselves. This is truly incredible.
Although I am excited about all this advancement, I can't help thinking that the paperback book has nothing to fear.
Yes, a reader takes up less space and is cheaper in some cases when buying some books or borrowing from a library.
For me, I will always crave the feel of the paper on my fingers. To see the ink appear on my skin, its a connection to the written word, the sound of the page turning creates anticipation for the next word.
For me a book can never be replaced. Don't get me wrong, I will have an e-reader at some point for my books will be in that formatt as well.
The bottom line is that as long as people are reading, especially children, how they are getting the stories becomes a secondary thought.
