What can I say about this book?   It is well written and a pleasure to read. I mean, I was captured by the text, by the words, by the honesty.   I was captured after I was taken back.   I had to re-read the book jacket twice and then re-read the first few poems, then back to the back of the book for a few poems and then  randomly through the book a few poems... and yes, this book is written through a boy's voice.

And WONDERFUL that it is written through a boy's voice because most books in the YOUNG ADULT area are written with the main character as a girl. (Not all! but most I think) And that is because there are more female readers than male readers after 12 years old. But is that because there is less to interest them in fiction or is there less available because there is less of a market?

Do 12 year old boys like poetry?  I don't know.  I don't remember my son reading poetry in the teen years, but then again, there wasn't a lot of new poetry written then.  He didn't have WHAT MY GIRLFRIEND DOESN'T KNOW then.  I think if he had this book available then he would have loved it.  It's all about a young man, Robin, who has a girlfriend, but then meets another.  It's all about a young man who has emotions and feelings that he hides from the world but shares with us through these poems.  It's all about a young man growing up, making some mistakes, doing some things right, and maturing.  It's a good read.  I hope you enjoy it.
