A spoonful of creativity a day
Day 8

I have been carrying on with Little Red today - trying to get her finished, but not quite there yet. She now has some silk underoos and a lot more hair...

Here she is modelling her complete outfit. I still have to make the cape though..

And I gave her a bit of a hair do...

Starting to look quite spiffy. Now I just need to make a cape and a pesky wolf :)

A spoonful of creativity a day
Day 7

And another teaspoonful today. The holiday and a long bike ride curtailed the creating today, but we had a lovely day and it was well worth it.

So, today, Little Red got a new pair of boots made from red felt and some cute buttons:

And a skirt made from a cuff of an old shirt. I think my original Little Red who is looking on, approves:

Next, a top and of course, a red cape...

A spoonful of creativity a day
Day 6

Today's spoonful of creativity was a tiny one - a little teaspoonful.

A few months ago, I was asked to make a Little Red doll with a wolf for a library. I got Little Red started ages ago, then she languished in my sewing box for the longest time.

So, today, I got her back out:

Her body is done and she has the beginnings of hair. I cut out the arms and legs..

Sewed them up and stuffed them:

Then attached them to the body with mother of pearl buttons:

Now she needs an outfit, which will be a project for another day!

Sweet dreams!

Playing catch up

I have been caught up the world of trying to catch up, which means sorting out the studio, general sorting and tidying and gasp! going outside. Sunshine, trees, bike riding and library visiting, all quite lovely.

I have been sewing again and should have something to show by the end of the week. Been having great fun trying to re-create the wolf that I made last year, but this time in a brown, tweedy wool/silk mix. Great fabric to work with and I am hoping that it will have lots of raggedy edges to make him look the scoundrel that he is.Here is a reminder of how he looked:

I am working on a new Little Red also. I think she will be bigger and have jointed arms and legs like ol' wolfie there.

Also wanted to show you this. My husband has many talents and seems to have developed a new one... P.J.Bracegirdle

Talk to you again soon peeps!

30. Little Red Riding Hood

Another mock cover I am doing. Although I wished there was some consistency with this, it was fun to do more experimenting and playing with my style. For this I worked straight on the computer, it turned out to be more vintage-like than I intended.

Ever since I did this:
I have been wanting to do this:

Little Red got out of bed..

Today she was going to visit her granny, and it looked like it was going to be a beautiful day....

Time to get dressed...

She felt like she was being watched....

Yikes!

I had so much fun making these and already thinking about making some more fairytale characters - Goldilocks and the three bears or the three little pigs would be great (a lot of sewing though!) I wanted to make the wolf look ratty and dishevelled, so I left the raw edges of the fabric showing. I also sewed into his tail quite a bit and left a lot of dangling threads, all in the name of art, I will have you know and not from sheer laziness :) These are the kind of things I like to make when I am not too busy with work. My son thinks that it is a nice mummy thing to do - and I quite agree :)
