I did a traditional (traditional for me , anyway) drawing for "red" for illustrationfriday.com a while ago, so I thought this would be a good opportunity to try something different. I hand-drew the black only, in my sketchbook, and then scanned the drawing and colored it in Photoshop. This is my first attempt at full-color in Photoshop.
Let me know what you think.

HI guys. It is my 100th post in the blogging world and also my 1 year anniversary!

A little redo since I can't get to the illustration side of me lately. Grrrrrrrrrr!!! All life and no art makes jim a grouchy boy.

There is red! Just look closer. It is about the moment that makes you realize first time what red is all about. More stuff on my website. Greets!

I recently participated in the Custom 52 project.
My submission is titled, "Seven Deadly Diamonds" illustrated above, and I thought it fit nicely with this weeks theme of "red."
By clicking on the card illustration below, it will take you to my card site for voting.

Happy voting and wish me luck!

I was wanting to do a piece that was a departure from anything I had done before, so this is what came out of it.
And this piece was originally conceived for a television pitch.
If i get that chance I will try to cram in another entry for this weeks theme, but until then- Enjoy!
SFG: Red
Before you do anything else today
SFG members, head on over to the
SFG forum and sign up and get involved. I've spent a lot of time and money on developing a forum for YOU because so many of you told me that was what you wanted. I'd appreciate each and every one of you taking the time to help that endeavor not be a wasted effort. Thanks!
Alright, this week's theme is a simple one, no parlor tricks or slight of hand. Just the color red and whatever that means to you. Enjoy!
For you newcomers, the
SFG Challenge runs Thursday to Thursday, and was created to offer every member an opportunity to stretch their creative muscles and post their interpretations on a specific theme. It's a lot of fun!
Be sure to label your illustrations with the appropriate labels as well. I prefer you label your entries with your name or screenname, and the challenge label, SFG: Red.
Remember, this is a completely voluntary challenge designed solely to stimulate creativity and promote participation. Please don't hesitate to post your other work as normal.I'm
still looking for someone to help me with keeping up with posting updates for
SFG and
DI to some of the illustration and design news sites that are out there. Contact me if you're interested in helping out.
I'd also love to see you
SFG'ers help to advertise the site yourselves, posting links on your own websites, and talking it up where and when you can all over the net.
Help me to build this brand! The next challenge begins Thursday, July 12th, 2007.
Challenge yourselves
SFG'ers and have a great week!
