There once was a princess named Patty who loved cake. She had a big birthday party earlier in the day,
and only had one slice left over . When it was time for dinner, she told the king, queen and royal baker,
that she wanted to eat her slice of cake for dinner. They told her just this one time. She ate the cake and
went to bed smiling. The next morning, her parents went to visit some friends in another castle, while she
stayed at the castle. The royal baker asked Princess Patty what she would like for breakfast. She told him
she wanted cake. The kind baker told her that cake was not breakfast, and she will get a belly ache. Princess
Patty then began to yell and clap her hands.
Patty cake, patty cake baker’s man.
Bake me a cake as fast as you can.
Prick it, pat it and mark it with a P.
Put it in the oven for me, me, me.
So the royal baker rushed back to his kitchen to bake another cake for the princess. The princess next went
up stairs to brush her hair. When she finished, she layed on her bed and fell asleep. She started to dream
about a giant cake, marked with a P. She twirled, whirled, sung and danced, in the middle of the
giant cake.
Patty cake patty cake baker’s man.
Bake me a cake as fast as you can.
Pat it, prick it and mark it with a P
Put it in the oven for me, me, me.
Then there was a knock at her door, it was the royal baker. The princess opened her door, and he asked her
what she would like for lunch. The princess again, began to yell and clap.
Patty cake, patty cake baker’s man.
Bake me a cake as fast as you can.
Pat it, prick it and mark it with a P.
Put it in the oven for me, me, me.
The royal baker went back to his kitchen to bake another cake for the princess. He brought it in
to her, and she ate and ate and ate until the entire cake was gone. When she finished she went outside into
the royal garden, and sat on a bench. She began to have a stomach ache, and started to cry. The royal baker,
who was in the garden picking vegetables for dinner overheard her. He walked around to the bench, and
asked the princess what was wrong. She told him she had an upset tummy. The baker told her that she ate
too much cake, and that he would finish picking vegetables and then help her inside. The royal baker
told her that she needed to rest, and a healthy dinner. The baker finished picking and pulling his
vegetables, helped her to her room and left hurriedly to make dinner.
Princess Patty sat on her bed ill. She counted five times that she had eaten cake in two days. She
began to daydream about a giant cake, chasing her through the castle. Right when the cake was about to eat
her, there was a knock at her door. Princess Patty woke up, and opened it. It was the royal baker, who
prepared her a lovely dinner of a vegetable pizza pie. She sat down and ate, as the baker walked out of the
door. The princess finished eating, and she fell asleep. When she awoke, it was morning, and she was
feeling much, much better. She walked down the stairs and saw the king and queen were standing there
with the Baker They asked her what she would like for breakfast and she started singing and clapping
loudly.
Patty pie , Patty pie Bakers man.
Bake me a pie as fast as you can.

There once was a flea. Who lived on a spot on a cheetah.
But he used to live, on a stripe on a zebra.
And he once had a house, on the snout of a hog.
But he grew up in an apartment, on a tail of a dog.
He then hopped off to school, in the pouch of a kangaroo.
Next he got a job on a bird’s wing, and off he flew.
He liked to visit his mom and dad, who lived up high on a giraffe’s neck.
So they could see all of the things, they hadn’t seen yet.
They all took vacations on top of a camels hump.
And would visit other family members on an elephants trunk.
But the one place Ferdinand loved most of all.
Was going home to sleep on the family dog.

Ferdinand Flea wanted to see the world.
So he swam to the sea floor to see Oysters and pearls.
He rode a mule up a mountains peak.
Though by time he got there he was fast asleep.
He then had a dream of flying in space.
Whizzing pass stars put a smile on his face.
The sun so bright, he never saw such a site.
He now knew what is was like, to pretend he was a kite.
One of the sights he couldn’t believe to see.
Was that the earth was now the size of a flea
So he got back in his rocket and started to zoom home.
And as he got closer he saw that the Earth had grown.
Ferdinand smiled, landed his rocket and then he woke up.
With the moon on his mind, wishing to touch.

The first step to winning cooperation is conveying to the child that you understand their feelings. It is in the best interest of all if you inquire with the child that you are right in diagnosing their feelings.
The second step is to show empathy without condoning. This means that you understand the child's point of view, but not necessarily agree with it. At this point in time it is recommended that you share times when you have had the same emotions, in order to show the child that you relate to them.
The third step is to share your feelings and perceptions. If you have went through the first two steps in a friendly manner the child will be more open to listening to your ideas regarding the situation at hand.
The fourth step is to invite the child to help with coming up with a solution to avoid the problem from happening again.

Book, Fancy Nancy
Authored by, Jane O' Conner
Illustrated by Robin Glasser
Published By HarperCollins Publishing, 2009
Fancy Nancy has just that- Fancy illustrations. It uses alot of pastel colors and is meticulously drawn.
The target age for this book is listed as ages 4-7.
This is a story about a little girl named Nancy who is probably about 5 or 6 and her best friend Bree. They consider themselves world class explorers, but have a three house radius of their own, and Mrs. Devine, a nice lady with a huge garden. The girls prefer to use words such as insect instead of bug and aroma instead of smell, because they believe they are being fancy.
The target age group will grasp the concept of learning to use other words, because it is literally thrust upon their minds as they read, or are read to.
It will hold a child's interest because it teaches them about things that they can find in their own back yards.
I think it would be a valuable addition at the 15.99 listing because it will enhance their literary skills, as well as teach them how to not disturb nature.
I think the main point in the story is to encourage children to use other words and heighten their vocabulary, as well as to play out doors and not be afraid of everything that goes with it. Excellent series for new readers.
