Hey guys! I'm supposed to be on a blog break this June — But, I just couldn't help myself and had to draw this week's topic. Hope you guys like it! Seriously now, last drawing for the month. See you guys in July!
I really like this illustration Michelle. Love the play on words Nice!
Very funny :) and good execution!
lol I knew that you made it through Monday Artday. As soon as the page downloaded I could see this hilarious illo and I literary run to your blog :D
It's so nice to see how this illustrators communities are so addictive that we can't help to be part of them.
And now I picture you back to work with a big smile on your lovely face :D
Muack!
Oh this is cute!! I know exactly how she feels, had many in my youth. As always, love visiting and enjoy your posts.
Very cute and clever illo! Love the work that you post. Have a good break and looking forward to seeing more in July!
The male pig is all suited up, but the female pig is naked. How come?
Glad to see your adorable pigs, have a nice break will miss that amazing sense of humor.
Aww, poor Mr. Pig! This is too cute!
LOL! love it!
Hehe. Ypur characters are always so funny! :D
A pig suitor in a three piece suit! This is great, but gives an "unsettling" feel as his love object appears, in contrast, to be totally naked! Like Dejeuner Sur L'herbe, only sur le divan?
Oh! You are back! Thanks for drawing again!Awesome, funny, very yours :)
Have a nice break and see you in july!
Oh my gosh, this is so cute. A pig in a suit is still a pig but this one is lovable.
Very nice. I think this is one of my favorites of yours. I really like the colors
lol wee wont tell if u wont. lov it soo cute and diff. then ur normal suit. see u in july

I really like this. The colors you chose make this even better! Great work.
Miss Piggy has her hooves full dodging this dude's moves. Great post.
Ah ah ah really funny !
"-John, our relation is impossible...
-But... Martha !"
great work as alway pig dreseves at lest one little kiss he did put on a suit
lovely and funny. I like the old-fashioned feel of the picture.
What a couple! What expressions! Splendid!
I really enjoy how you put a subtle sense of motion in your illustrations. It shows very specific linework.
This specificity is also present in your expressions. I mean, that sow's mouth is one curved line, it shouldn't be as expressive as it is!
Thanks for visiting!
And thanks for making us laugh...great work!
Hahaha great one!
Great cartoon Michelle! Thanks for visitng my blog!
Thank you for visiting and commenting on my artblog Michelle, even tough I did not do a IF illustration this week... Have a great summer with a lot of fun/sun!

Aw, we'll miss you!
Okay, lemme get out my banjo... to the tune of Bill Bailey... here we go...
Won't you come home, Mitch Lana, won't you come home
I've moaned the whole month long
We've all been lookin', honey, for your return
I know that can't be wrong
I remember that movin' day
When you went away....with nothin' but a fine tooth comb
Ya, no one is to blame, but... ain't it a shame
Mitch Lana, won't you please come home
I said now, won't you please come
Mitch Lana, won't you please.... come on home!
Hahaha....You're too funny Mike!!!! thanks for the song! haha...you made my day!
Hey, congratulations on the move... Where did you go? If you still live in the DC area (it says on your profile), you're not too far from me, I think - I'm in Reston.

You live in DC too? Cool!
I'm loving this, it's cute and fun!
dunno how you do it everytime :D this is lovely - the story as well as the ilo.
I thought I was the only one who bemoaned that kids only sit in front of screens these days... I didn't, and I'm ok, seems you are too... I love your illustration, has funny memories attached to it.
http://blog.benconservato.com
Wonderful illustration, I'm sure that your creativity came of your childhood. That's evident : the games with your brothers continue to exist in all your drawings... These moments of happiness will give you for always the talent to create beautiful images
Have a nice day : )
great job as always we had a refrigarator box so we could seat 6 kids ...i wish my kids had the freedoms we did at there age..ahh to bea kid again
very cool work!
Cool, Michelle! The idea is great! During my childhood, we used a coconut tree branch as the car!
Excellent work, very funny, nice colors!
No matter how much stuff Liam has, he always loves the box more. So true!
Great idea, excellent take on the topic. Me and my older brother used to do stuff like that all the time. I remember when we got a new dryer and were able to use that big box. Great stuff.
oh michelle! I LOVE that so much! It just grabbed my heart and squeezed it. I grew up just like you! That is such a sweet, wonderful illustration and i love the typography on it, too!
It'd be a swell poster!
Wow! Great illo! Congratulations!
I love your cute style!
I like the way the type interacts with the illustration. It becomes part of the feel. Cool!
oh so cute. I love your illo!
Oh, waw, wonderful idea and illustration, Michelle!
Yep, you've captured my first car beautifully!
Oh man... we WAITED for all the fruit cups to be used up so we could Nab that big box.... and yep this is one of the uses! GREAT illo.
Great concept! I really like it..I used to play with one of those too!
the type play is fantastic! :))
I really like this one Michelle. How cute. And imagination is the best gift we can give our kids.
Good job ;)
Hi Michele! Great take on the subject. Beautiful shades of brown--fun illustration.
Boxes and sheets (tent city)! I remember those days ... wonderful illustration and memories, Michelle, thank you!
Great image!
Very cute!
Oooooh it reminds me my childhood ^^ Sweet illo and nice memories !
I wish I had had the joys of playing in a box when I was younger, instead I shall experience it vicariously through your illustration of awesomeness!
There is nothing like a plain brown carton, it can be anything. Another fabulous idea. I like how you add the story to the illo.
When the inspiration comes to the heart the illustrations are poetry for my soul!
Bellissima!
Cata.
A box can be so many things! I think our favorite was a little fort hideaway in the garage. Great spot for reading & being left the hell alone!
so cute! reminds me of my childhood as well. today's kids are growing up in a different world, that is for sure.
Great illo Michelle - Love it! Still true today as I have a huge cardboard box in my living room currently - for the kids of course!
Hey! I remember that! That is good! Diggit!
Great again!!!
I used the couch and a frisbiee for a car- even though growing up I had some of the non-imaginative toys, etc..
your post is great! luv it! reminds me of when i was growing up.. i got a chance to play computer games on a green-colored screen and atari. but the best part was playing tag with my neighbors and "make believe house" (we call it bahay-bahayan)
Brilliant!! Love the concept!!
Hi Michelle! How are you? jeje this is a great car!
Great illo and wonderful sentiment! I miss those days too.
I have these wonderful memories, too! We would turn chairs on their sides and line them all up to pretend like we were on a bus. (I don't know why we turned them on their sides, it certainly would have worked if they were upright, too.) Fun for free!
ah, lovely memory! nice writings too!
I like this - it's such a great take on the them too.
OMG my kids do that a lot. We have many pictures of them playing with boxes hanging on the door of the toilet. It is such fun to have kids play with things that are not considered toys.
I like your style, very nice.
thanks for visiting!
i can relate to the piece...we used to create things out of boxes all of the time (boxes are more fun than the toys themselves)!
thank you
mariella
Amen to that, cute illo:)
Very very cute!
I love the colors and the idea, used to play the same way with my cousin! :)
too wonderful Michelle, the color is perfect, what a fantastic illo!
Awwww... I used to do that too, Michelle hehehe... It was very funny.
Lovelly your illo as always, very inspirational :D
Muak!
Man, I'd comment more here but it takes SO long to scroll down all these comments! ;)
Fantastic illo, Michelle! Nothing beats a box. My daughter loves them too.
I hope you got to drive that thing too. :)
aaahhh yes! those were the days! wonderful, clever and magical idea and illo!!!
I agreee, and the box car tradition is played by my daughter too, it's a never-be- old- fashioned plaything :D!
My friends and I were airplane nuts growing up. We built a fighter plane mostly out of cardboard boxes. Simpler times.
Tasty-rific! I do this with my son, too!
Great Illu!
Good job.
Oh! that is SO great! Ah, the good old days when electronics didn't rule the world (and our brains!)
this is such a great message...i'm with you on that. the car is pretty cute too!
This is so rich! Wonderfuly captures those chilhood flights of fancy!
You are so right Michelle- this is the best car in the world!
aww I love the facial expressions and the gestures.
Great memories. Boxes can be so many fun things. I had a dishwasher box that became a fort.
Wonderful illo Michelle
Wow, great job on this pic. I love your style and the caption is great.
Cute picture, Michelle, and thanks for bringing back my childhood memories too. Just put two girls in there and you'll have me and my sister :) Although sometimes the box became a spaceship rather than a car.
Amazing what inventive minds can do with a cardboard box... or a broom, or a bedsheet...
This is a really pleasing illustration and says so much about childhood days.
Oh yes!! I do NOT heart computer games. But I love cardboard boxes...:-)
This is, as always, wonderful Michelle!
this is great!! all your works are!
always get to be fun and a bit melancholic and your illustration tell a whole story. Congratulations!
Oooo, I did this! It is nice to remember good and old days. Thanks!
oh yeh what fun could be had in a box for the afternoon anything from outter space to the wild west. makes u wonder do kids know wht an imagination is today
That is so my childhood too... cardboard boxes make the best toys!
Great fun illustration!
Love love love your style!!
hehe this is cute and so true! V cool illo
ken :D
Interesting narration. Good work as usual!
OMG!!! My brother and I used to do that too!!! That was so much fun! I have to find a large cardboard box now!

Love the expression on that cute face! I like the colors you use for the grapefruit and juice, too. You are very talented!
So cute! if it wasn't such a sweet drawing I'd say add some sugar quick! :-)
pucker power, very cute.
Ooooo my mouth is just as twisted into a lemony knot just looking at this. You have a unique ability to tell so much with your illustrations.

Darling in a sour way ;)
What a great face! :)
this is adorable!
Oh my, she is really cute!!!!
Ha! I love this. It actually makes my mouth water imaginig how sour it must be. I love the colors...this is one of my favorite illos you have done.
Perfect expression! HEY- I can't play the trumpet while looking at this (well I can't play it anyway)
awesome colors!
What make this really work for me is the right hand. I see it as gripping the table just shy of diggin the nails in. It really brings the sour expression into the entire body. I wish I could get that much subtlety with so few lines.
Grapefruit has that same effect on me. Beauty.
It must be reaaaally sour! You illustrated his expression very well!
lol very funny!
Can we have the recipe?
Right reaction! Nice illo!
i lovvvve the blender! :) this is really great. in a way, your style reminds me of ol' rankin bass stuff (the illustated versions) and then not at all. you have a really unique feel, michelle. ty for your comments on my first 2! :))

My birthday wish is to be one of the contestants on the Food Network Channel and compete in the Sugar/Cake Pastry contests and carry your cake across the table after you finish it :)
Well, I am officially 30 today. You know, I stopped drawing for a very long time and just did not have the passion and motivation for it anymore. But, when my brother, Chuck, died in September, my life suddenly turned upside down and everything around me seemed so hopeless. I felt so lost when he died but then the only thing that made me feel better was drawing. So, I did. I started to draw again and kept on drawing like there's no tomorrow. Illustration Friday came exactly at the right time for me and became my motivation to create, experiment, and de-stress and i'm just so happy for all the wonderful friends i've made as well. This year, I promised myself to work even harder, to forget about the bad times, to embrace the good times, and to keep praying. Life is still a little rough until now, but, I learned that I need to survive it and to survive it gracefully. My wonderful cousin once told me, "Sometimes it's so tiring to hope against what seems hopeless, but, that is what faith is — To continue believing even when the sun isn't shining."
So, here's to my 30th birthday! Lots of donuts and cakes and maybe even a glass of Pinot Noir! Thank you for all the wonderful messages guys! You all have been such an inspiration to me and I thank you from the bottom of my heart!
- Cheers!
Happy Birthday Michelle. I remember my 30th... like it was yesterday... (I wish!). May you have a blessed year with all good things coming your way. May the memories you have of your dear brother be only the best ones, and may you find joy in every day!
HI Ginger! Thank you!! I truly appreciate your message :) SEe ya later...
ooooh donuts! You have really outdone yourself with your work since that sad time. It is cathartic to immerse yourself into a passion no matter what the reason but to honor your brother in the way that you have makes him proud of you and you must continue to grow. 30 is a turning point and I see wonderful and meaningful adventures for you dear Michelle. I hope you get your birthday wish and I wouldn't mind a piece of your fine cake too! Love, Laughter and Live out Loud Michelle!
Thanks Val! Truly appreciate it :)
Happy Birthday, Michelle!Hope you have a wonderful year... thirties are good years to have. And I'm with ya on the giant chocolate cake-- all the way!

Happy birthday, Michelle! I wish you a wonderful year
[and I think, according to the Chinese year the year of the golden pig should be a great year, it only comes around once every 60 years..]
wishing you a great birthday Michelle! ;)
cheers!
The wonderful message that you wrote, Michelle, deserves a ton of comments. I hope you continue to benefit from IF. I feel the same as you about IF, only, thank the Lord, I haven't lost a dear loved one yet. But it was my friend, Doug Jones' urging that got me into starting a story blog that became Trowbridge. It has been so tiring with such long added hours each week, yet a great drawing and painting exercise, and very fulfilling.
Thanks guys, truly appreciate it! Thanks Roz, Suana, Astrid, Karla, and Bron! :)
Happy 30th birthday, Michelle!! God bless! Hope all your dreams come true!

Ok - I don't know if you guys are going to believe me, but I CAN EAT 9 donuts (Krispy Kreme Original Glazed), 1 bowl of cereal (Cinnamon Oatmeal), 3 Filipino Sweet Rice Cakes, and a glass of Milk – all in one sitting. I am 5ft 1" tall and weigh 101 lbs and I did this because my brother double-dared me and said I was a teenie sissy girl.....Yup, after that he stopped calling me a sissy. :)
Yummy! YOu should have told me to share some with you...
Wow! You beat me with only the 9 donuts! I couldn't eat more than 3. You are my idol! hehehe. Now I'm going to tell so to Jose, so we stop telling me that I eat to much candy ;)
(U look lovely even when you eat total carbs)
hahaha.... Thanks Pati :) Thanks also Serline!
OMG!!! I couldn't eat that in a week! And you only weigh 101? I'm envious :) Great illo Michelle!
hehehehehe, you are giving some eating idea!!!!
nice illo Michelle
Michelle, you are so funny, your sense of humor makes me smile (and I love glazed donuts and your illo).
ZOINKS! 9!?! Great story- I believe you- them Krispy K's are addictive- especially the ones still warm from the oven. Your illos are addictive too!
Amazing! I hear the world hamburger eating champion is a tiny girl, too. Great illustration.
Oh my goodness! Great illustration. I love how she looks like she's taking it nice and slow. The pile of donuts is great!
Well I love that you can do that , Michelle... I wish I could. Even one donut would be a treat! Nice illustration... I can just imagine the bliss and the sugar rush.
i could've done that 25+ years ago :P not anymore. what about you? can you still beat your own record? your ilos always make me laugh. thank you.
YES!
WOW! You made those donuts look so real! I could eat them all too! This is fun and funny! Love those donuts!!!
wow! you make me hungry michelle. lovely illo as usual!
Lovely drawing and a bit more texture than normal?
I especially love this! And it seems to be a bit of a departure for you style wise? Those doughnuts look spectacular! And I knew you could do it.
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.
YOU are the QUEEN of sugar!!!
now thats wht i call a totally well fortified brekefast high in glucose and starch lol. but i do have to admit those rice cakes sure sound good.
Dont u just lov being able to eat anything u want and not have to worry. i sure doo ;) lol
oh i love those donuts! it looks so inviting. heheh. nice illo, michelle!
Oh carbs are so bad for me - the more I eat 'em the more I want 'em!! Great illo as always Michelle!
I am on the anti atkins diet.
All carbs and no meat. :(
Get some fiber cereal though.
Nice work.
That's pretty good...how long did it take you to sleep it off?
You're drawing is very funny and cool. I think you are very good at drawing.
Sarah (Brian's daughter)
WOW ! this is really SWEET! :)
Don't let anyone tell you what you can't do! Destroy those doughnuts!
TASTY!! love the illo!!
loll...With all that sugar you still have teeth? Nice work!
wow! thats pretty awesome. i can only eat one doughnut..donut.. doughnut? either way awesome illustration
Verry impressive....both the eating and the illustration.
HAHA! how funny! I'm sure it was worth the possible stomach ache just to prove the equality of boys and girls! LOL
I eat one olive and take 100 pounds... I'm soooo jealous! :)))
Breakfast of Champions Michelle! Color me green- I'd love to eat that and not have to burn like, a thousand calories on the treadmill immediately. Mmmmmm! Donuts!
Oh mon Dieu!!! Was the milk full cream? No, don't tell me I'm sure it was.
Great illo as usual.
good one! great work as per usual:)
A dare which like very yummy ! ;o)
I like when you talk about your personal story in your illustrations; and this story is very funny!
Thank you to share this with us :)
lol! I love eating so much, but i don´t know if i can eat all that sugar at one time without going crazy!! Sugar goes up to my head so fast....hehe.
oh dear! you do that too?!!! :D I love to eat as well! But no matter how much I eat, I gain weight only on the face! ha! ha! Lovely illustration Michelle!
very impressive. my best is 11.5 donuts and a pint of milk. after which i felt very sick. i am questioning your measurements. ;-)
A worthy breakfast for a great illustrator! I think they would find me passed out on the corner with a smile on myface if I ate all of that for breakfast!
mmmm:P now im hungry!! lovely illo
Ummmm, exquisite illo! jaja! I believe you Michell, I´m sure that you never were a sissy girl.
Nothing like a double-dare to get the heart rate going ;) Cute illo!
I like the approach that you took for this weeks topic. Great work.
Cool, calm and collected... great take on the subject and very funny as usual!
Cool illo! Wow 9 donuts?? I could only eat one and weigh a lot heavier than you!! I envy you, Michelle!
Dreediness is unpleasant a default !!!
UHHHHHHH i would weigh 4000 pounds if I did that...as it is now I limit ALLL carbs!
This illo is so fun though I couldn't eat all that, not even on a dare...although I do love cereal!
Thanks so much for stopping by and for your comments!
I always love your illos. They are full of humour and fun! those donuts just shine... i have never had a kripy donut as i don't think they are available in perth Australia yet but i really want one now.. hehe :o)
love
Sulea
i could do it but then i would be stuck in that chair for a day. nice illo, you make the donuts look yummy
Wow! Your metabolism must be burning that stuff up like crazy. Probably from all the energy you put into coming up with illustrations for IF.
Another great one you've done here....
I love your works..
..and... beware of donuts!
Ha! You should go pro and try to go up against this young lady: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/g/a/2005/05/26/eat.DTL
I absolutely love your illustrations and this one is tops.
Love the carbs. That gives me a great idea for my new illustration. You always have such fun stuff.
Cool Michelle! A great illustration to commemorate an amazing feat.
Donuts and cereal are the foundation of breakfast. That reminds me of that cereal that was mini donuts with tiny frostings. I can't find that cereal anymore so I assume it was discontinued, or that I dreamt it, and the mini donuts never really existed.
me agradan tus dibujos..manejas muy bien las palstas¡¡¡
saludos
your illustrations are adorable and nicely done...and i'm in awe about the dohnuts...if i ate that i'd be the goodyear blimp!
Great and very funny piece! mmmm...food...my achilles' heel!
Yum yum yum. I'm looking at this blog in the morning and now I'm really hungry for breakfast. I miss rice cakes.
Awesome illustration! I love the color choices and style! I'll be sure to check back on your blog :D
P.S. Thanks for commenting on my illustration!

I look at your glazed bliss and
Gain new love handles
Just lamenting my love/hate with donuts. Great cartoon!
Wow. I can feel my blood sugar rising just reading what you ate! Nice illo.
Did you feel sick afterwards? I once was dared to eat a half a lemon merangue pie (my fave) and was sooooo ill after. I'm proud of you for putting that brother of yours in his place ;) Nice illo!
your sense of humor and love for eating makes me hungry! yummy illo! ;)
You're no sissy! Well done!
I especially can't imagine someone as petit as you eating all that, in one sitting, plus a glass of milk, but it's hard to believe anyone could-amazing!
I love the rendering of this double-dare challenge, lots of fun to see.
Hahaha!!! Now that's a breakfast!! You're so awesome taking on such a dare!
I just ate 6 mini donuts, mmm. Great illo!!
