UCR Libraries will celebrate the acquisition of its 3 millionth volume in a ceremony on April 18 at 2:30 p.m. in the lobby of the Tomás Rivera Library on the UC Riverside campus.

“Taking I-Learn to the Limit” is the next program in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Colloquium presented by the University of California, Riverside Office of Undergraduate Education. The quarterly series exposes UCR faculty to the best practices in higher education.

Rapper Kendrick Lamar and R&B artist Musiq Soulchild will be co-headliners at the 2012 Spring Splash Music Festival at the University of California, Riverside. Sponsored by the Associated Students Program Board (ASPB), the concert is scheduled from 2 to 7 p.m. on Saturday April 28, 2012. Tickets are free for UCR undergraduates.

Each year approximately 1.5 million children around the world die from illness caused by contaminated drinking water. By studying how these microorganisms behave and by helping to develop new sensors that can detect sources of contamination in ground water, Prof. Yates helps government agencies, urban planners and policy makers to more effectively monitor, treat and deliver safe supplies of drinking water.

Little Joe & La Familia are the headliners for the 16th Annual Radio Aztlan Music Festival on Saturday April 14, 2012 at the University Theater at the University of California Riverside. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and the show begins at 6:30 p.m. The festival is sponsored by Radio Aztlan and UCR Chicano Student Programs.

The Gluck Fellows Program of the Arts at UC Riverside is now taking applications for its annual Summer Camp. The camps will be held on the UCR campus and at UCR ARTSblock on June 18-22 and June 25-28. Applications are due by May 7.

The lab of a University of California, Riverside Bourns College of Engineering professor was named on Tuesday, April 3 after Innovation Economy Corporation, a Riverside company that plans to commercialize his research focused on using mobile devices, such as cell phones, to detect harmful airborne substances in real-time.
