I knew I wanted to be an artist ever since winning an Easter Egg drawing contest in the 2nd grade. My secondary education reflected this early love of art, beginning with Studio Art classes and ending with a degree in Graphic Design. After working successfully as an in-house graphic designer for 5 years, I returned to my fine art roots and began to pursue a degree in Illustration at Academy of Art University, where I am currently a student. With my knowledge of graphic design and skill in traditional illustration techniques, as well as a passion for children’s education, it was a natural goal to create for the children’s market. The most important influence on my work comes from the school of Parenthood, which continually inspires the characters and style of my illustrations greatly. On my blog you'll join me in my triumphs and defeats as I try to get my foot in the door of the illustration industry. I'll try out new techniques, share new inspirations, and clue you in to my daily life. There will be rejection letters, there will be failures, but hopefully there will be learning experiences in it for us both.Today my family and I are currently stationed at Fort Detrick, Maryland where I continue to embark on many artistic endeavors, learn new techniques and styles, and grow as an illustrator.
