I am a children's picture book and detective novel writer from Houston, Texas.

Grew up an army brat; traveled some. Germany, Spain, Portugal, France, Mexico - but never enough!

Day job is teaching bilingual kindergarten - have a great gig at a progressive school, where we teach one day in English, one day in Spanish. We do a lot of book writing in my class - also teach writing to fourth graders after school. We are big Lucy Calkin's fans, so spent much of the year teaching my kindergartners to write teeny tiny books - usually three sheets of paper, folded, stapled three times. Best writers were often going five and six pages by end of year. Favorite books by my kids are screamingly funny, totally brilliant, achingly sad.
My favorite book by one of my kids, a book that is both gross and hilarious, begins with the sentence: "Yesterday my little brother threw up in the doctor's face."

Would love to talk with, ask advice from, and otherwise get to know editors, publisher, agents, writers and fellow educators, especially picture book authors, agents, editors, publishers and illustrators, and teachers who struggle with the mysteries of writing and the written word. Am in search of a totally honest literary agent and publisher who are as crazy about picture books as I am, but who really know the picture book market - I know you are out there! Right now I am shopping ten books I wrote last year to agents and editors.

The Three Not So Little Pigs – What do you get when 3 not so little pigs get kicked out for eating their mother out of house and home? A tragic version of the classic tale. Ages 5-10

The Haircut – What happened when an army sergeant father decided that $1 for a kid’s haircut was too much to pay. Ages 4-10

Windy – If your best friend is the wind, he may not always play nice. Ages 4-10

Fly High - A lullaby, sleepytime book about parents and babies headed to bed. Ages 2-5

A Trip to the Zoo – A child who cannot sleep lets all the animals in the zoo escape. Ages 4-10

Angel’s Dream – A boy dreams he has grown angel’s wings, and uses them to bring his Grandmother from Mexico. Ages 5-12

That Word - A father and son, from childhood to old age. Ages 5-12

White Water - based on a true story, this tells the story of
a five year old black child in1959, who just has to try and taste the water in the Whites Only water fountain. Ages 5-12
A Slug - what do you get when a hungry cat, a mama bird with a nestful of hungry chicks, tangle with the slug that just wants to cross the road. ages 4-10
My Human - a dog tells, from his pov, what it's like to have a pet human. ages 4-10
