Gary Watson is an artist and published illustrator with forty years of professional experience. His published credits include S.E. Hinton's The Outsiders, Rumble Fish, Tex, That Was Then This is Now and Taming The Star Runner.

He has completed hundreds of paintings, many of which have been used as covers for hard and paperback books for the major publishers of N.Y.C. Watson has created covers for many celebrated authors including S. E. Hinton, Judy Blume, Scott O’Dell and Robert Newton Peck.

His work has also turned up in periodicals as varied as The Readers Digest, Advertising Techniques, Media and Methods, Post Graduate Medicine, The New York Times, Virtue, The Ladies Home Journal and TV Guide among others. His accounts have included Cinemax, NBC, Anderson Clayton Co., Christian Publications, Bantam Doubleday Dell Publishing Group, Inc., Ballantine Books, Little Brown and Company, etc.

Watson’s work has included portraits of such famous people as James Dean, Bruce Lee, Strother Martin, Kathy Rigby, Billy Jean King, Clark Gable, Carol Lombard, William Powell, Jean Harlow, Basel Rathbone, Ester Williams, Robert Macnaughton and John Wayne.

His commissioned portraits include successful men and women in their chosen fields as well as children and teens.

Gary Watson’s work has been published internationally and his original oil paintings can be found in many private as well as corporate collections in the U.S. and Canada. The artist is listed in “The Artists Blue Book” at Ask Art.com. and is a member of The American Society of Portrait Artists.
