About Kathie
Hi all, I became a published poet in 2007 in the anthology, Gumbo For The Soul, with my poem titled, Walking That Line. I've written three children's short stories which have won two writing awards and were published in the book, Auburn's Most Creative, 2007/2008. I also wrote an introduction and back cover to an adult literature book titled, Bridge To Triumph in 2007. I am honored to say I wrote a poem of hope for victims of the Australia fires, which was included in a pamphlet and will be presented to the children of Australia. I am a lover of all genre's in the children's book world. I began my journey in the field of writing with the hopes of writing children's educational progamming for television. I hold a degree in Television Production and a degree in Behavioral Science. I was the Writer/Production Coordinator for PM Magazine, then "life" took me in another direction and I ended up writing primarily for the Superior Courts in two counties. I returned to writing for children after having two children of my own. I am currently honing my craft with a collection of unpublished children's books in the PB genre and have 2 early reader chapter book mss, which I've been slowly working on. My goal is to expose children of all ethnicites to characters with whom they can laugh, learn and identify. I do "Take Joy"(thanks Jane Yolen) in what I do and hope to "bring joy" to my readers.
