A mother, wife, elementary teacher and writer, inspired by words from around the globe, I fill treasured moments with scribbled notes-to-self in one of my many notebooks. One day, the words hidden in those pages, will form the serifs of a yet untitled story waiting to be brought to life, so I listen, write and grow closer to that special day.

Until recently, these global words would only have been spoken or written but, while embarking on an unexpected journey, and becoming mother to a hard of hearing child, an otherwise unknown experience is being fulfilled. The tender beauty of signed words makes global languages and the understanding of difference even closer to my heart.

Inspired by the strength of my little lion cub and supported by my wonderful husband, I continue to fill notebooks with my kahanian in my new home – picturesque Vancouver.

A Lion's Mane was my first children's book, a story that contextualizes the many connections we share as global citizens. It won the 2010 Skipping Stones Honor Book Award for Multicultural and International Awareness.
