About Mechelle
I was born in Lafayette, Louisiana and five years later, my devotedly Catholic parents moved us to Lafayette, Colorado, where over the years and with the Pope’s blessing they added to our family until I had ten brothers and sisters. Money was a little tight, but we had great fun with sheets left out on the clothes line to dry and floating peanut shells in the ditch. I worked and borrowed my way through college. I’ve been a reporter and an editor, a freelance writer and a photographer, a sales woman and a manager. I’ve won awards for my work in newspapers and have published a couple of short fictional stories, one of them a children's story in an Australian magazine called "The School Magazine." I’ve successfully completed, but haven’t yet published, numerous other short stories as well as three book-length manuscripts. I'm trying to find a publisher for the third, a middle-grade adventure called "A Sister, A Brother, One Dragon and Many Fish Flying."
