My first published book was THE TIME TREE (Walker Books). Although now twenty years old, it has recently attracted active film interest via Wild Thyme Productions UK. The fifteenth, TO SUMMON A SPIRIT (Walker Books), became one of the Pick of the Year titles listed in the UK 2000 Children’s Book Award. I’m now published in the USA and Australia, and my work has been translated into Danish, German and Japanese. I've recently, via Squinx Inc, published my first book on Kindle.

THE GAME (Walker Books) was optioned for film production by David Wood in the mid-nineties A film of THE TIME TREE is currently in development with a Swiss director, Bernhard Nick. FOR MARITSA WITH LOVE (Simon&Schuster) was based on a gypsy girl I met on the Paris Metro. Although this book was published in the UK, no US publisher my agent has approached has yet had the guts to run with it!

For the past couple of years I've been working on stories for much younger children. Last year, PLOP CITY and JACK THE FEARLESS were published by Franklin Watts, and this year they'll be publishing two new picture books :BILLY AND THE WIZARD and STICKY VICKIE.

THE BIG PURPLE WONDER BOOK will be published by Evans in July and DOUBLE DRAGONS by Kingfisher in September.

I very much enjoy sharing my work with kids (my toughest critics), regularly visiting a number of schools, and doing sessions in bookshops and libraries.

I'm a member of the Society of Authors UK and the 'alternative SAS' - the Scattered Authors Society.
