Each set of pupil's books has a linking assessment book which consists of 14 tasks, or group of tasks, set with a topic. These tasks relate to the activities in the pupil's books and use methods that are familiar to the children. The course is linked to the National Curriculum statements of attainment and can be used to assess whether children need more experience at the same level or are ready to progress to the next set of books. Examples of possible responses by children to the tasks are given to help the teacher with the assessment process. Photocopiable record sheets are also provided.
