About April
April Myers has been writing professinally for nearly 14 years. She keeps track of this number by taking the age of her oldest son, and subtracting one. Starting off as a Printer for the local daily paper, she got to know several of the editors and eventually weasled her way into writing freelance articles. After 300 published pieces and a divorce in 1998, she used those clips to finagle a much-needed full-time position with a direct mail agency. After the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, she was recalled to active duty as a Navy Journalist, where she had the incredible opportunity to run a public affairs office while the lead petty officer was guarding the gate and the PAO was on maternity leave. Since returning to the agency, she has moved up to "Senior Writer." Although fortunate to have had the opportunity to do many kinds of writing, including website and email copy, video and commercial scripts, plus newsletters and fundraising letters, she is itching to try something new! Recently, she wrote what she believes will be a children's book. She just needs to get it published. April is currently married and has two boys, Alex 14 and Zachary 12. Although life has taken her down a variety of high-pressure career paths, what she enjoys most is taking care of her family.
