About Peggy
Peggy Hargrove is currently a resident in Columbus, MS. From 1990-1991, she resided in Atlanta, GA where she attended and completed a variety of academics at the Atlanta Job Corps Center. During her time in Job Corps, she earned her G.E.D., Ward Clerk, Secretary, and Advanced Word Processor Diplomas.
Later, she returned to Columbus, MS and continued her education at Mary Holmes College in West Point, MS. From 1999-2000, she earned an Associate of Science degree in Business Education. In addition, she won 2nd place in the “Reading Around the Curriculum Contest” on the book “The Client.”
From 1999-2002, she worked as a cashier at Wal-Mart in Columbus, MS and later became an Optician Assistant in the Vision Center. From 2000-2003, she worked toward and completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education with endorsements in Business Education 7-12, Computer Applications K-12, and Mathematics 7-12. From 2003-2007, she worked toward a Masters in Education and earned a degree in Reading/Literacy (Reading Specialist). This program greatly emphasizes the importance of children acquiring reading and writing skills. The Reading/Literacy program encouraged her to pursue her love for writing. She is currently pursuing an Education Specialist degree in School Administrator.
She has published poems such as “Trouble Mind” and “Old lady under the tree,” which were placed in anthology titles. Many of her poems were inducted into several writing contests. She has received numerous invitations to different national poetry events in places such as New York and Pennsylvania.
She believes writing stimulates and creates visual images of many unbelievable journeys. As a child and adult, writing stories, short plays, and poetry has always been an enjoyable activity for her whenever possible. She believes reading and writing stories can take children and adults to another level of understanding about themselves and others.
