About Pat
Ever since I won that lollipop in grade three for a play I wrote, I knew what I wanted to do with my life. Within two years of graduation from Journalism, I was married and had two children. Raised 300 chickens and sold eggs to help make ends meet so I could stay home and raise my daughters. As soon as they were both in school, I joined a major Canadian business-to-business publishing house as assistant editor. Two years later, I become the company's first woman editor. During my six years there, I won a number of awards for my articles in both national and in-house company competitions. Frustrated by the heirarchy that always stood between me and the adoption of creative, revenue generating ideas, I teamed up with a partner to start an independent publishing company that could turn ideas on a dime. All trade mags, titles comparable to WWD, JCK, etc., but significantly smaller, reflecting the Canadian market. Sold my 50% in June 2001. Thank you God. Now spend half the year on a small lake in Canada (guess which half !), the other half in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Currently researching publishers for a middle grade kid's book. It's really, really good!!!
