I am a Shakespeare Scholar, among other things (I supported my family as an Outside Salesman for 25 years while I researched and wrote my dissertation (Washington University, 1990) I actually tape- recorded several chapters of the PHD. while driving on long sales calls! (No, I there wasn't any texting then, so I did all my typing at home) Looking back, I'm proud of the fact that at the time I took a distinctly "minority" position on my Shakespeare play (the Merchant of Venice),-I defended Shakespeare's Jewish "villain," Shylock-- but about seven years later an international jury of the European Economic Community needed to make a decision about Shakespeare's portrait re the new Euro Currency. They confirmed one of my major PH.D. findings very bluntly! But that Jury was representing the financial and social interests of over 380,000, 000 European citizens, a population block larger than the entire U.S.Now I'm still in the Merchant of Venice minority of critics, but with backing from quite a majority!
