About G.David
As long as I can remember, I have been obsessed with history; different time periods, regions; all kinds of history.
From the time I learned to read, I read all the historical material I could get my hands on. When I was older, I got involved in re-enactment groups, and historical societies; I worked seven seasons at copper mine museum, writing tour guide scripts, and giving tours, both underground and above ground. The script writing necessitated intense research of industrial, social, and architectural sources.
My love of history led me to Michigan Technological University, where I majored in history and worked five years as a student worker in the university Archives and Archaeology Laboratory as a technician.
My lifelong desire has been to write historical fiction and no-fiction, ranging from the American Fur-trade era, the Colonial Period, and through the period of World War II. I would love to write historical fiction and non-fiction books for young readers between the ages of 10-18. I remember being a young reader and not being able to find well researched and well written, interesting books for that age range. I would love to have the opportunity to change that.
I have always believed that simply reading history is not sufficient to learn about it, but it must be a lived; it must be a hands-on experience. I have done my own brain-tanning of buckskin, made clothing out of buckskins; have become something of an expert at primitive camping and cooking with dutch ovens (the real ones with legs); I have built muzzle loaders, and have learned how to use them, competing in muzzle loading competitions.
