I like the quirky and the unusual, the magical and the beautiful, the natural and the inspirational. As a child, I saw the movie BORN FREE seven times. At age fourteen, I wrote my first Elizabethan sonnet. As an adult, I've entered a stage in my life where I'm tired of being SHOULD upon and am finally doing something about it.

Although I have published one book (DANCING GHOSTS) and numerous articles in the academic world, writing--and children's picture books in particular--has become my passion. Three completed books are out there finding their way into the hands of the right publishers.

THE BOY WHO TRIED TO CATCH A BUBBLE follows Jeremy Jehoshaphat from birth through age 8 as he becomes captivated by bubbles and tries various ingenious methods of catching one.

FREDDIE THE FRIBBLER is a fromulous first-person account full of fabricated phrases, in which Freddie discovers why being a fribbler, even if some others don't much appreciate it, might not be such a bad thing after all.

THE WORLD BREATHES IN is a short poem in prose that evokes the ways in which the movement of air, wind, and breath interconnects all of creation.

I am a member of the SCBWI, PEN America, and the Pacific Northwest Writers' Association.
