Krista Blakeney Bell is an Australian writer of 23 published books for young readers. Born in Sydney, Krista lived in New York in the early 1970s, but now lives in Melbourne with her husband and three adult sons.
Krista won the Australian Family Therapists' Children's Literature Award with her junior novel, WHO CARES? in 2003.
Her picture book set during WW2 entitled LOFTY'S MISSION (illustrated by David Miller) was short listed for the New South Wales Premier's History Award in 2008 and is shortlisted for the West Australian Young Readers' Book Award (WAYRBA) in 2010.
IF THE SHOE FITS is published in USA by Charlesbridge and was shortlisted for the WAYRBA in 2008.
PEEKING DUCKS is Krista's latest picture book, illustrated by Sally Rippin, and published in Australia by Windy Hollow Books. Set in the majestic landscape of China it is a classic cautionary tale about three little ducks who go on an adventure in search of the mighty Li River, but discover along the way that there are some things in life we need to learn from our elders.
Krista now writes stories based on her world travels: China, Italy and most recently America, which she visited in 2009 for her niece's wedding on Nantucket Island. A story waiting to be told!
