I'm also a teacher trainer and acting librarian, but writer seems like the one to tell this group up front. I have a website for my writing (www.katecoombs.com) and a blog where I review children's books and riff on trends in children's literature (http://bookaunt.blogspot.com). My first two children's books are a picture book, The Secret-Keeper (Atheneum), which was a Parents' Choice Recommended Book for 2006, and a funny intermediate fantasy called The Runaway Princess (FSG), which got an ALA Notable Book listing in 2007. The sequel to the latter, The Runaway Dragon, is coming out in September 2009, and a picture book retelling of a Grimms' fairy tale, Hans-My-Hedgehog, illustrated by John Nickle, is due out in Spring 2010. Another picture book with Atheneum and a poetry collection with Chronicle are awaiting illustrators and publication dates. I love, love, love books, especially children's books--reading, writing, collecting, and talking about them! I even occasionally read a book intended for grown-ups. Other than all the book stuff, I dabble in painting, music, and gardening, plus I spend time with my wonderful family and friends.
