I enjoy researching and developing Twig Stories, an eco-literary, middle-grade fantasy series about the exploits of small stick creatures battling climate change in their old growth forest.

I live within sight of Mount Rainier and Mount Baker, and witnessed the devastating events of the eruption of Mount St. Helens and its aftermath. The Cascades remind me daily of shrinking glaciers and vanishing wildlife. Recent journeys into British Columbia and Alberta, Canada, awakened me to the crisis of the bark beetle infestation that is destroying millions of acres of forests. Here in Snohomish, Washington, we experienced two "hundred year floods" within three years.

In an effort to help my own young reader understand - yet not be overwhelmed by the impacts of climate change, which are so very visible here in the Pacific Northwest - we developed this amusing series of Twig adventures together. Pretty soon we had a fan base among her classmates, librarians, and elementary school teachers. Very many wonderful nonprofit friends across the country and in Canada willingly read the manuscripts and guided me in better, more accurate, directions. After I stumbled across an amazing, intuitive Disney illustrator, I began publishing this collective effort of young reader stories.
