Howard Zimmerman has been working in the publishing industry for over thirty years, having spent a decade in periodicals and two decades-plus in books. Most of his work has been as editor in chief for two companies: Starlog Magazine (later, the Starlog Group), a periodicals publisher (1977 – 1985); and Byron Preiss Visual Publications (BPVP), a New York City-based book packaging concern (1986 – 2005). Over the years, the majority of Zimmerman’s work has centered on a few categories: science, history, science fiction, dinosaur books for kids, and graphic novels. In 2006 Zimmerman started his own book-packaging company, Z File Inc. His client list includes Sterling Books, St. Martin’s Press, and Farrar, Straus and Giroux.
