Fantasy is non- fiction for kids, or at least for me. I really love fantasy because it opens a door to enter in a new world. My ideas come from my daily life similar to that of the paintings of René Magritte. When a familiar subject mixes up with a different daily thing, a miracle happens and the door of a new world is open. From a technical point of view, I make a storyboard with drawing and text to unify both on the page. As an illustrator, I pay close attention to the character’s facial expression, composition, perspective, color, and wacky atmosphere. As a story teller, I try to minimize the words to condense story line and use the power of illustration as much as possible to enhance the imagination of children. I use different media depending on the atmosphere of the story. This includes cray, watercolor, screen-printing, gouache, acrylics, collage, inks, and digital media. In addition, I’ m glad if I can collaborate with writers who introduce me a different world.
